I feel like if her aunt situation wasn't there at the first place, she may end up somehow at a little better place and they may be able to save their love and marriage. If she was the legal wife, there will still be scheming but due to her nature, things will not get worse than it should be. The emperor would at least be a little bit level headed throughout the years cause she will be the voice that keeps him grounded despite having all those evil whispers. I think by the time she was the step empress is was a tad too late to undo his asshole ness of personality. Felt sorry for Ruyi for having to spend her entire life with this man. @@Ebizzill The difference between A'Rou and Ronpei is A'Rou became a self serving snob. She picked on the other servants to make herself feel more important. She started thinking she was as good as Ruyi, if not better. Ronpei on the other hand started out humble and stayed that way. She treated the other servants as equals, who all served Ruyi. Yes she put others in their place, but not at the expense of making herself better. She stayed loyal no matter what the hardships. In China and other countries, some servants were sent to the afterlife with their master weather they wanted to or not. Ronpei went willingly without being asked.
