Do not question the logic of this. I can picture it and I am giggling at it. Then, a squad of F-22s warp in and the Xeno scum get scared and run away. The collective annoyance from the F-22s never getting to dogfight is growing. They may end up revolting. All to get their battle.

Kinda what Buff was designed for. Reminding everyone that, if noone says what the ratios being discussed are, "proportional" can get interesting. If it was the number of lives relative to the whole population of each respective place, the US and whoever touched the wrong boat, well, it'd not be that scary. When it's "proportion of the defense budget used in the attack", well. That gets far scarier. Spend 1% of your defense budget on us... maybe we'll do the same.

Well, there are space bugs in Star Trek. Several species of them. And they are not friendly. Though, they aren't fully 100% canon within the lore. One bug version was introduced in The Next Generation (TNG) and then completely forgotten about. That bug was the Bluegills in Star Trek Online (STO), or simply called "Parasitic being" in TNG. Which were a parasitic bug that burrowed into a host, taking control, and pretty much living among the host species to spread further. Yet, in STO the bug was brought back with its original form and also some new forms that were bigger, nastier, and meaner. Like 8 foot tall bugs that spit acid and such. Yeah. Very...Starship Troopers moment in STO. But instead of bullets and nukes. It was phasers, plasma, disruptors, and mini anti-matter grenades, lol. Also, a lot of swords and knives. Klingons love to get in close. They ain't scared of big bugs.

A lot of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time started with an accident. Basically, you experiment, something unexpected happens and then you spend a lot of time and effort figuring out what the hell happened, with more experiments. This time though it's a bunch of theoretical physicists fucking with math until it gave them what they wanted, which is also great but unfortunately not worth much until the tech exists to try it out.
@TheRibottoStudios4 ай бұрын
@@lemax6865"fcking with math until it gave them what they wanted." Is iconic 😂
@davidkelly42104 ай бұрын
@@lemax6865 The tech part isn't all that hard if it doesn't require new materials (the problem with room temperature superconductors). Once the math says it can happen, you just let the engineers do their thing. From splitting the atom to glassing 2 Japanese cities for touching our boats took less than a decade. The Wright brothers to prototype jets a generation. Nazis dropping rockets on London to Soviet and American landers on the moon (the Soviets were 1st but unmanned) another generation. If this warp drive doesn't require something like fusion (maybe even then with recent energy positive experiments) or antimatter to fuel and can be built with existing materials we could probably get a working prototype in a surprisingly short amount of time. Provided it's properly funded of course. They're still refining the math atm so who knows.
@lemax68654 ай бұрын
@@davidkelly4210 That's the thing though. When they say "we don't have the technology", what they mean is usually either "we don't have the means of producing (or storing) enough energy", or "we don't have the required materials/the materials required are prohibitively expensive to produce in sufficient quantities". There's also the occasional "we don't have enough computing ability". Not much really "requires" fusion power or antimatter anihilation reactors, it's just that those ways of producing energy would solve the first of those two categories of problem and a good bit of the second if we could get them to work, and that's proven to be rather difficult. I acknowledge that the first step in any great leap in technology and science is getting the math to work, hence why I said "which is also great". I also however realise that between figuring out the math and the engineers getting the product out, there are sometimes *decades* of work involved, fusion being a good example, the math's been there since Einstein. "Fusion power is only 20 years away" is a meme for a reason.

And I've been into those scifi space stories cause they are long enough I don't have to stop my morning routine to look for the next thing to keep my brain squirrel busy so that I can get shit done. Haha

The idea of F22s with an upgrade to make them viable for interplanetary combat and long campaigns like how Polish horses were bred for intercontinental campaigns sounds way too epic! It's especially terrifying to consider a hive of xenomorphs intelligent enough to use ships for interstellar travel, but assuring to consider the F22 would get such crazy upgrades that it's going to put xenomorphs back in the stone age! Your videos make me wish I enlisted into the Air Force when I was young.

Tbf the idea of a realistic warp drive has existed for years now.

@@stargazer-elite”realistic” in the sense that it involves things we aren’t sure even physically exist. The new “warp drive” actually works under known physics, even if the engineering is centuries away.

@@highlorddarkstar theoretical physics is still physics and at least it’s not like most fictional media that just doesn’t even give a proper explanation

We have Ion Engines. Thing about them. THEY ARE SLOW AS FFFFFFUUUUCCCCC. Several satellites use them and are pretty much on a course to leaving the system. The engine gives the satellites enough control to change course or add a little speed. All without using any compress gases. Thing is. The amount of Ions to move the craft is just enough to get it to move. Though, not enough to be a source of true pulsion. At least not yet. The concept does work. Just needs a lot of fine tuning and new ideas to improve upon it. Also, in the sci-fi world of Star Trek. They have a form of Ion Engines. They are the subwarp engines that starships use to maneuver around. Plus, give little pushes when changing course at Warp.
