Dang, nice find on the Clif bars. I would have kept some for my DH and shared some with others who don't care about best buy dates. It's so sad that they were thrown away when you consider the cost of food.

Good to see you diversify, although you specialize in scrap. Food, clothing, and used household items are also great scores and can save a LOT of money. Much of the clothing and used items can be sold at garage sales. So many ways to make or save money by waste prevention.

I do try and save usable items if I can. I always knew the abundance of waste out there, but dumpster diving still opened my eyes. Wow!

The wine boxes are great for the cats and should sell well too as they can be made into lovely shelving and storage. They sell on Etsy for around £10 each.

When you store food as I do you end up eating old food and storing new food. I'm fine with it, the wife...not so much. I'm glad you could save the cliff bars. They are not the best tasting bars but like you, I ate a lot of them while travelling.

I ended up keeping the 2 boxes and will probably keep most of them. These bars aren’t as bad as I thought. Not a peanut butter fan except on a pb&j, but they make for a quick snack to feel somewhat full.

Not in this production year. My research says listeria was in 2016, not 21 or 22. No recalls for this type of bar at all.

Haha, love the way you commented yourself about the truck and dumpster before all the advice comes in; sometimes we just don't see these things at the time lol. Not sure about over there but over here we have best before or use by dates, I'm always happy to try something past its best before, nice saves!

Sometime we have expiration dates and others will have Best-Buy dates. In any case, I have no issue trying it first. There have been a couple of times I wished I didn’t haha
