Wish you'd visited LUMBINI(Birthplace of Buddha) when you were at Nepal.One of the Holiest place on the earth for Buddhists and Hindus. And...why hinduism and Buddhism are close in Nepal? Its because Lord Buddha(Siddhartha Gautam) was born in Hindu family and later got enlightment and teaches his findings to the followers through out asia(hence also called,'light of Asia') and thus his principles turned to be called as Buddhism.Hence, buddhism and hinduism are interconnected and one can see many temples and monasteries in same premises. Hi Mayo, do you know Siddharth Gautama Buddha comes from the Shakya clan which is a Newari community and are the original inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley. All the artifact, temples, prefecture you saw are Newari construction. Newar hold the key and are the amalgamation of Hinduism and Buddhism. Do you know people who understand Hinduism well understands that Buddha just introduced a new way to attain Nirvana, and like many other paths his path was also included. Buddha is also considered as the reincarnation of Vishnu which you might have also experienced in Muktinath. The only difference is that it is only in Nepal where the culture is still intact and Buddhism and Hinduism goes hand in hand complementing each other. But in any case you missed the Baglamukhi Mahadev 8 storey Temple which was only few steps from the Golden temple. Just dont go to place just to visit, but to understand how cultures evolved, how unity exists despite of such chaos of diversity and difference of opinions.
