The reception of the first video in the news buzz series has been GREAT! So I'll keep making them to help you keep up with what's happening in the XR space (and also because it's fun to make them:) - here it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHKQnZRnaM6pha8 - Thank you so much to each and every one of you for watching and liking 🤩 A quick reminder, if you want to help out the channel 100% free, then make sure to watch a video until the end, and not click away - long view duration helps the algorithm, so just keeping it play until the end helps immensely! And of course, leave your comments :)

Everything is "coming soon".. Which is actually fine with me. I have 410 games on quest 3 and I only play like maybe 4 of them.. Walkabout and ultimate golf and beat saber and some mixed reality stuff, which is awesome. But you're right, the future of mixed reality is gonna rock😁 Keep us informed and keep us in the vr universe 👋.

What we need is a VR headset similar to the Steam Deck, but with a focus on customization and modding by the community. Allowing the public to create and add new features will spark innovation, letting users push the device’s potential beyond its original design. This would give us the flexibility to enhance the headset's capabilities and create an ever-evolving platform. It should also support portable PC gaming, giving users the freedom to play their favorite games on the go. For the best immersive experience, the screens need to be OLED, ensuring crisp visuals without visible pixels, so the display is clear and smooth for the end user.

Interesting that vive included "focus" in the name of their new xr headset but not in the XR Elite. Seems like the XR Elite was just a POC and now it is being folded back into the product line. What does that mean for the pro line? Does it remain a strictly VR product? Will there be another pro version or is it the end of the line?
@SargonDragon4 ай бұрын
The Focus series is Vive's business focused line of headsets whereas XR Elite is for consumers. The Focus Vision is not a superset of the XR Elite. It has Fresnel lenses while the XR Elite has pancakes, for instance. I don't think there's any change in course here for Vive, except they realized that the Focus Vision could be of interest to VRChat users on the side for what is otherwise still a business focused headset. Kind of like how Quest Pro accidentally became a popular headset for VRChat use.

I really hate the fact that HTC tacked word "Vision" on their Focus hmd. So desparate. Why steal the word vision and still use Fresnel lenses? May as well rename it to the HTC "unfocused" vision.

The vive focus vision, $1000, the display port doesn't work without buying an adaptor not included. It uses a gen 1 XR chipset. Also what library of stand alone games will it have.? I dont think anything HTC will make from now is worth getting. The Vive was great, but it had heavy involvement from Valve. But it also shows how much monopoly Mata has. How can any company compete when there headsets are massively subsidised and the can loose billions on VR.
@SETHalpine4 ай бұрын
Yes it works without the adaptor. The Display Port 1.4 PROTOCOL offers a compressed image without visual losses, the DSC uses a 3:1 ratio compression In addition, the HTC headset uses a USB 3.2 type C INTERFACE in Alt mod 1.4, which means that it can -Charge the headset through the USB interface, which the DP interface (the DP socket) and the DP protocol can only do from version 2 -Balance a streamed signal like the Quest3, does it with its USB 3.0 cable, with a consequent compression/decompression done by the XR2, which is the bridle of the quality of this stream... We must not forget that it is a vulgar mobile chip. If there was a chip dedicated to this, we would not criticize the quality and latency of the streaming so much.... -Use a signal according to the DP protocol as long as the headset has a video controller that manages this protocol. There, the XR2 is put out of work. For all this, you have a FREE cable* • USB 3.2 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps) that will transmit the stream or support the DP 1.4 alternative mode, a 5m cable that will go from the USB-C socket of the headset to the USB-C socket of your motherboard or to the USB type C socket of the AMD 7900 CGs And for 190€ you have this first cable + a VIVE Wired Streaming converter • Converter (0.7 m): - Input: USB-A, DP, Power (AC/USB) - Output: USB-C with support for DP 1.4 alternative mode • USB-C to DP adapter of your CG • MiniDP to DP adapter of your CG • USB-C to USB-C cable for charging (1.2 m) • USB-PD power adapter (30 W) www.vive.com/fr/solution/vive-streaming/ I would therefore like to draw your attention to the fact that the interface provided as standard is therefore of the USB C Alt mod 1.4 type and that unless you have an outdated CM, the converter should not interest you... And I take this opportunity, since you mention it, to remind you that given the very high resolutions of the Pimax Super, it must switch to DP2.1, except that Nvidia still does not offer it and not that TV manufacturers keep the DP2.1 controllers for themselves Pimax will therefore probably stay on a DP1.4 protocol using a very high compression ratio...
@linzkirk4 ай бұрын
@@SETHalpine So without the adaptor its a compressed signal like the Quest 3 and not direct display port?
@SETHalpine4 ай бұрын
@@linzkirk DP 1.4 is a compressed 3:1 signal....Quest 3 stream a signal with a higher ratio ( may be 20:1...i don't know...) As i wrote, the HTC headset uses a USB 3.2 type C INTERFACE in Alt mod 1.4 for free, which means that this cable can -Balance a streamed signal like the Quest3, with consequent compression/decompression done by the XR2 OR -Use a signal according to the DP protocol as long as the headset has a video controller that manages this protocol. So yes you've DP protocole by using this USB-C cable. That you'll plug to your motherboad (or to 7900's USB-C)
