It's Studio Vlog time! That means little snippets of daily life in and around the shop. Come along with Kim (a disabled local yarn shop owner near Bristol, UK) as she shares projects, outfits, kitten cuddles and small adventures.
This month: A lot of chatting! Good days, bad days, stress over money, setting up a twitch stream for in-person d&d, and crocheting an awning!

Hey, Hi, Hello! I'm Kim Smith (kimsmithhappy) and I run an Ethical Local Yarn Shop near Bristol in the UK called Alterknit Universe. I started selling yarn in 2014 when I realised I wanted to know more about the yarn I was using. Everything is Natural, Recycled, Local or Ethical. I help people with their knitting, crochet, and spinning projects in the shop and offer alternatives (get it... alterKNITives... hehe) to big brands. I know everyone always asks you to ‘like’ and ‘comment’ but it really is a good way to help us grow, and to let me know that you like what I’m doing!
In my personal life, I battle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS or M.E.) and Fibromyalgia. Whenever I'm not playing with wool, I'm probably playing games. I love Dungeons And Dragons and other role-playing games, as well as board games. I'm a cat mom to two sweet and mischievous kittens that are growing up way too fast. I'm a Vegetarian, a Feminist, an Activist, an Illustrator, a Vlogger, a Fibresmith and a Nerd. I make playlists on Spotify, love to sing while I'm working, and it's taken me many years to love my body (but here I am! Body Positivity/Body Neutral is awesome). I'm interested in making the world a better place, and crafters of all kinds have been doing it in their own way since forever (stitching codes into jumpers, making underground zines, yarn bombing etc)! I'm trying to continue that punk rock tradition by advocating for Anti-Racism work, accessibility for disabled people, body positivity, eco-friendly habits and many more. I love learning too! I went to art school at Camberwell College of the Arts London (UAL) and studied illustration. It was a fun time, but I got really tired of the city and missed Bristol. Originally I was born in California, USA but the South West of England has always felt like my true home. I really hope you enjoy the videos I post on KZbin as each one is a small labour of love.
