The first 20 seconds were a bit ... not quite so good. Sorry. After getting used to the sound and video quality, I gladly enjoying watching that tutorial on how to play. Good explanations. Very helpful. Well done

I just added this song to my repertoire a week before I saw your video. I understand enclosures, arpeggios, chord tones, But I can’t figure out how to make a musically sounding line or phrase,. What is the actual process you go through to Come up with your improvised melody? Do you just try out a lot of patterns, rhythms, etc., and see what works? Do you ever use strong melody notes, or do you just reply on Arpeggios? Thanks
@billapplegate85673 жыл бұрын
You sure packed a lot into your question, when I get stuck I try singing a phrase, and then figure out what I just sang, often it will help me use these different improvisational tools in a more organic way.

I get frustrated with bossa nova. I can play and improvise over standards, I can play this tune and others but I don't really understand the function of the chords, I must dumb or something....

you NEED to understand music theory for this lesson otherwise you completely lose yourself by how many chord names and numbers you throw in there
