Space foam is referring to field physics where particles and antiparticles pop into existence and annihilate each othet making empty space not truly empty. Quantum Foam made of virtual particles in spacetime. There are more time signature changes in this than you can shake a stick at. It took me a couple of days to figure out the riff in the first two verses. It's 6/8, 7/8, 6/8 with the third bar split into four one and a half beat intervals. It's full of epic proggy goodness and Tati brings out the high belt at the end. LOVE this track!

Damn dude you sound like me lol. I have so much fun subdividing Jinjer songs--and then attempting to play them on bass! They are prog masters. I've been playing asking with Geddy Lee and Chris Squire for over 45 light years, but Eugene is a serious challenge. It typically takes me a week of concentrated study to learn one Jinjer song. I haven't even tried the guitar or drums--i know they're beyond my skill level. Don't you love how, like Rush, they toss out timing changes that should sound totally out of left field--yet they make perfect sense, and usually don't feel disjointed--unless they WANT you to feel disjointed. They're so natural with it that they almost make an odd meter sound even lol.

"space foam" is a reference to quantum foam - the theoretical fluctuations (on the very small scale) of spacetime where matter is constantly being created and destroyed, that, when visually modeled, has been described as looking "foamy". "28 lightyears" = she was 28yo when she wrote this. traveling at lightspeed to find her soulmate. she does go a bit overboard with the astronomy metaphors , but overall a good song. For me, this is actually the highlight of their live show -- that drop in to the outro just feels so epic (feels like the perfect closer ; but, alas, it never is).

@@whispermason8052 makes sense -- it's their "big hit". though, to me, doesn't have much of a "closer" vibe ; but YMMV. when i saw them last year, it was On The Top. saw several vids of full sets from over the last couple of years, and it always seemed to be different. fair enough - keeps things interesting.

Dude, I really like how you break down lyrics. You do it so quickly and logically and insightfully. You see from other comments here what Tatiana's thoughts and intentions were. You pretty much nailed it. I view it as a whimsical lyric. But with a kernel of personal experience. I'm happy she found her binary star. She sounded lonely. A million thirsty metalheads are bummed (probably as many chicks as dudes lol) but even the Queen of Metal needs lovin' too. Kudos to Alex Lopez for having the hook to catch that scale armored fish so she can see her sunbeam! It's said Vlad the drummer wrote 80% of the music on the Wallflowers album. He's a classically trained pianist, and apparently a hell of a guitarist too. He decided to mostly do away with the traditional verse/chorus/verse/chorus structure of pop/rock songs. Each song is a journey that evolves from the first step to the final mile.

One of my favorites. Especially the drumming. This song is Tati's love song to the universe. When she wrote it she felt that somewhere in this universe or another her soulmate exists (turns out she found one). The 28 light years was from the fact that she was 28 when she wrote the song. She knows light years is a measure of distance rather than time but she felt the lyric sounded right. I see it that if you are in a fast spaceship searching the universe for something after traveling 28 lightyears you begin to realize this has to stop at some point. So it works. I think the closest star to us is actually 4 lightyears but I could be wrong.

Oh man, if you like this there is so much more where this came from! You have a lot of joy in your future. Jinjer grooves as hard as any heavy band this side of King's X. There are dozens more greats, but another one with serious groove is Who Is Gonna Be the One live. Enjoy! The Jinjer rabbit hole is deep!

Great attempt to unravel that! 🤣🤣🤣🖕 Actually it is Tatiana`s only kind of love song. When writing this she was 28 years and basically she screams out: "Hey, dumb, stupid dude, see me, hear me!!!!!" And to make that stupid idiot finally acknowledge her she uses the most universial language ever to make him understand her - the language of the stars themselves.Of course this is ridiculous and she knows it but so is the stupidity of that unknown dude who is too dumb to read her other signals.
