"So Ready for Laughter" highlights Bob Hope's enduring connection with his most treasured audience, American troops. The film was produced for the Museum's original exhibition "So Ready for Laughter the Legacy of Bob Hope," generously sponsored by the Bob & Dolores Hope Foundation. As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the end of the war, we remember as Bob Hope said, "the men who made this day possible" and their sacrifices.

Hope didn't think it was enough to send records and cards, he knew he had to go, damn his safety. A true American legend

I had the rare privilege of seeing a Bob Hope at Anderson AFB, Guam Island, back 1959. I was only 5 years old, but I was laughing with the thunderous laughing and applause of everyone who attended. Bob Hope lives forever, his comedy is one-of-a-kind. He truly loved the military of all branches. 😂😂😂

His actions during the war... and indeed all wars thereafter... really deserve a full-length documentary. He and his team took extraordinary risks to put smiles on those faces. Bob was one of a kind and a true American original. Great share. :)

The term "greatest generation" sets a hugh bar both off and on the stage. For those that dont know the cost of the freedom they enjoy today, pleaee take the time to recognize those that gave it to you.

I think it was great for Bob Hope to entertain soldiers during WWII and other wars. I remember that my father met a famous actress on a military hospital train somewhere in France and it helped cheer up the wounded soldiers. He said that one of the wounded soldiers was sleeping and the actress did not want to wake him up but the wounded soldier was mad that he could not see the actress. I forgot her name but these people brought happiness to the soldiers on the front.

Thinking about how many times Bob Hope took flights in all kind of aircraft to reach troops around the world risking his life numerous times and not once did the Aircraft he flew in crashed killing him or those with him!! That’s proof of DIVINE GRACE AND PROTECTION FROM A CREATOR WHO ENSURED BOB WOULD BRING TEMPORARY RELIEF AND LAUGHTER TO THOUSANDS OF SOLDIERS MANY WHO NEVER CAME BACK HOME

The thing that touches me about this film is understanding what it was possibly like for a GI sitting there watching Bob while contemplating death the next day. Talk about living for the moment because there could be no tomorrow.

The footage of the first minute was shot at "Airfield R-70" the "Kaufbeuren Airbase" in Germany on 25 July 1945. At this time parts of the 80th Infantry Division, 840th Engineer Aviation Batallion, 108th AAA Group, 225th Searchlight Batallion, the 55th Figther Group and the 442nd Air Service Group were stationed here.

My whole life I greatly admired and was in awe of Bob Hope. I recently watched a video on KZbin claiming he cheated on Dolores with several women back in the 40s-50s. I certainly don’t want to believe it!
