I could be wrong, but it looks as though the Beolit 20 grill plate has been installed back to front, so that the speaker rear charging port is facing the front, ie. the Beolit 20 is definitely facing backwards ! If this is the case, hardly a fair comparison, why don't you face the Onyx Studio 8 backwards as well ?

@@127Foxtrot what made you go with the Beolit 20 over the Onxy Studio 8? I am currently considering whether to trade in my Beolit 20 for the Studio 8 in based on which one is louder (all with minimal distortion of course). What are your thoughts?

@@chuka2005 Hi Chuka, I am most pleased to pass on my thoughts. Firstly, I should clarify my need, I required a bluetooth sound box to supply music for our 2 hr ballroom dance that we hold every single week, so I certainly wanted a quality sounding unit, on battery, on the small side, and must be portable. I considered Bose, Harmon Kardon (the Citation series), Sonos, JBL, Marshall among others. (Note: the Devialet Mania wasn’t even out then). The HK Studio is certainly one I considered, although its not readily found in shops where I am (Melbourne, Australia) so I did not get to audition it. But it seemed clear that the Beolit 20 was “the next tier up” in terms of build and sound quality compared to the others, and also based on KZbin direct A/B comparisons eg. by Vua2hand, Ezekielo, Aus 91 and others. I think the Beolit 20 outdoes the HK Studio in these videos - at least to my ears. I spent a whole day in the shop to audition the Beolit 20 and finally got one for $820AUD, that was in June 2021, and now they have jumped to $1,200 RRP. I am so pleased with the unit, and several fellow dancers mention how amazed they are at the sound. It not only looks and oozes ‘premium’ quality, the bass and clarity are astounding for its form factor, size and portability, and it was even better after it got a software/firmware upgrade. Although its only mono, IMHO it still has a wonderful wide open sound stage. I sit it in the corner of a large 200 meter-square dance floor, so it gets a great boost from the wooden floor/corner location. It gets a massive workout every week - its played at 100% volume for essentially 2 hours straight. Initially, I was a bit miffed cos’ the 3600mAh battery would only last about about 1.5 hrs at 100% volume, but that was solved by adding in a 10,000mAh USB-C battery pack. One dance teacher brought in her Onyx Studio 4 to class, and I thought it was nowhere as good as the Beolit 20. The Studio 4 sounded fine for a cheaper, more robust, lighter ‘back pack’ friendly sound unit, I wouldn’t care if I had an Onyx Studio and it showed dirt/scratches. The Beolit 20 is absolutely more delicate; I nurse mine in a padded cube esky cooler bag, and so far it hasn’t a single blemish on it ! Oh well, I guess you can tell I am a bit obsessed with it ! 🤣

​@@chuka2005 Hi Chuka, I just saw that Vua2hand has a direct comparison between the HK Studio 7 vs the Beolit 20 (facing the correct way), and the Beolit 20 leaves the Studio in the dust. I think it would be significant downgrade to replace your Beolit 20 for a HK Studio 8; the B & O goes down to 37 Hz whilst the HK will cut out around 50 Hz, it's a massive difference and very noticeable in Vua2hand's comparisons. BUT, I acknowledge that the HK Studio 8 is around $350AUD compared to over $1,000 for the Beolit 20 if you can barter it down that far. You could get 2 x HK Studio 8's, still have change left over compared to a Beolit 20, and then stereo pair the HK units - I wonder if a HK stereo pair may give the Beolit 20 a run for its money... ?

Thanks for the update. Interestingly I got my Beolit 20 for less than $500 ($467 or so). It was slightly used but still came in box. As I am not nearly as much an audiophile compared to you, can you clarify the practical implication between the 37 hz versus the 50 hz?

Beolit 20 với 17 khác nhau nhiều về chất âm không ạ

không khác gì đâu bạn ạ, các chuyên gia âm thanh nói rồi, beolit 20 là bản nâng cấp nhẹ của 17, số driver loa trong chiếc loa giống và bằng nhau, thiết kế trong lẫn ngoài cũng giống hệt nhau, âm thanh ko có sự nâng cấp, chỉ nâng cấp về pin và tính năng sạc ko dây cho thiết bị khác. Sau khi đến nghe trực tiếp Beolit 20 và 17 thì tôi đã quyết định ngay trong 5 phút là mua beolit 17, tiết kiệm đc thêm mấy triệu.

Nói chung là tùy gu, tùy tai. Người thích tách bạch, thiên sáng thì họ thích B&O, ai thích bass đậm, bass đuôi dài và to mồm thì chọn Harman. Nhưng sự thật nghe Bose hay B&O có 1 điểm chung là tiếng trong vắt, lọc đc tạp âm nhiều, nghe ko bị ồn và mệt tai như nghe Harman.

@@truonghung3010 Marshall còn đỡ vì bass của nó không bị nặng và rền như Harman, Mid nó khá ngọt ngào. Còn Harman thì thôi, mua loa đấy về chỉ để mang đi những buổi party là chính, chứ nghe lâu mệt thật
