League of Legends owes a LOT to Faker. It's indescribable how absolutely lucky the game is that it was this guy in particular who became the "face of LoL Esports." He's INCREDIBLY humble. Basically everyone likes him, even his rivals. When it came to the first inductee to the Hall of Legends, the decision was literally unanimous. He single-handedly changed not only how the game was played, but also how the developers of the game balanced the game going forward. He was so incredibly dominant that they had to change the way several systems in the game worked. He was a good 3-4 years ahead of anyone during his prime in terms of developed skill.

The fact that Ryze was nerfed to the ground was attributed to Faker's achievements. He literally killed the champion because all the nerfs to that champion was not enough and he finds a way to make it viable to competitive play until devs literally kill Ryze so faker would use another champion.

16:50 The documentary doesn’t mention it, but Faker's teammates at Worlds 2017 were extremely burned out and were playing quite badly. However, Faker himself was at the peak of his career and was playing like an actual robot compared to others which is how they managed to make finals. In the community it's actually often mentioned as an achivment that "Faker dragged 4 corpses to the Worlds finals", which is even more impressive because Worlds 2017 meta/strategy was to protect and support your ad carry player which handicapped Faker's ability to solo carry games. To add on to this, Ambition (the one in this video, who switched roles from midlaner to jungler) who won Worlds 2017 with Samsung Galaxy, after his retirement in 2018 spoke a little about Worlds 2017 and some behind the scenes stories. In one of the stories he mentions this about scrims: A: "We played mid poke Varus, but then Faker locked in Ezreal. We were fucking speechless. How utter dogshit were we for him to play mid Ezreal?? But then he got a penta(kill). Fuck." Minho’s (Crown, Samsung Galaxy midlaner) mental exploded & he went to bed immediately after. Crown also spoke about this: "Moreover, SSG was struggling because they didn't have an answer to Faker. He would demolish games. Their solution was to pick Malzahar and apply point and click CC." Someone else also mentioned but I can't remember who that SKT had an impossibly good scrim winrate against SSG at 2017 Worlds. Their record was something like 19W-1L. This is why when SKT T1 ultumativley lost the Finals on stage, despite it being a 3-0 victory for Samsung Galaxy and winning in a very convincable fashion, all of the members of the team were jumping with joy and why the loss was so heartbreaking for Faker. Faker at Worlds 2017 was undoubtedly not only the best midlaner, but the best player in general, but unfortunately (for Faker) League of legends is a team game and although Faker was the best player, Samsung Galaxy was a better team. So, to answer your question, it was both luck and skill that ultimativley helped Samsung Galaxy win Worlds 2017.

In league you have 5 players on one team that play on 3 lanes - top - mid and bottom lane. Top is one player,, usually a tank//bruiser - mid lane is one player, usually a caster or melee player and bottom is the adc with the support. The jungler is - like his name indicates,- roaming the jungle (monsters) and waits for opportunities to gank the lanes in order to get chances and kills for his team. Mid lane is pretty intense play since it is the only lane that can get ganked from both sides - top and bottom have only one side open to ganks. That's why mid laning is pretty challenging. I love Fakers development from 2017 to 2022. He developed to be a great leader( big brother) for his young teamates, lifting them up, supporting them emotionally and being strong despite loosing and showing them that there is always another chance.

The reason why they were shocked at Faker's picks, explained in analogy, lets say the champions are weapons, some are better than others (like gun vs swords), some are effective in a specific way in certain areas but garbage in others (like how a bow and arrow is pretty good against a spear but its not gonna be as good when you're in a dark room) and so on...Faker is able to take a champion thats basically considered at the time a stick going against someone with a sword but by playing a certain way the stick is apparently a lightsaber if played a certain way

Funny thing is he passed that torch down to Keria. I mean, who would ever think to use a support Kalista in competitive play? I mean Ezreal support? Are we in Iron or the international competition? If Keria is an Iron player, I would understand an Ezreal support but a challenger? The man can literally use any champion and say it is a support and it works.

@@konaqua122 but its more the role. we had 2016 MF support and it was very broken too. The point is Keria is able to play this because of his skills and talent AND the fact he has Gumayusi, the best weakside ADC and probably the best adc ever on his side who plays everything too. I dont want to say Keria is not special or not that awesome. he is litteraly the only player who can play this and still wins everything with it. but its not that impressive like Faker plays unplayable matchups in midlane and still dominates them

@@konaqua122 To be fair, Beryl was kind of before Keria in this. 2022 had crazy support picks because Meta allowed it. And Beryl was a king in ranged Support Champs. Keria definetely is a king himself, but to put it solely on Keria for the crazy support picks is kinda wrong. I do agree tough that Keria can play most champs on support. But he is really not good at non-playmaker-supports like Braum. He needs to have the possibility to take the game in is own hands.

More context on their 2023 Worlds Run: basically, LPL is the chinese region for LOL esports and they are only second behind LCK which is the korean region for LOL. Faker, i believe has been to World 7-9 times (i cant remember properly), and made top 4 in all of those appearances. In all of those appearances, Faker and T1 has not lost to a single LPL team in a match. In 2023, the top 4 were 3 LPL teams (LNG, WBG, and JDG) and 1 LCK team (T1 with Faker). They ran through that gauntlet, dropping only 1 game to JDG (the favorites to win Worlds), and won Worlds despite them not being in the Top 3 favorites

3:30 To explain that play, Ambition played a champion that, when you hit a level, you can evolve a skill but it forces you to stay in place. Ambition decided to evolve under his turret, a VERY powerful tower that prioritises minions but will target you when you attack a champion within its range. Faker decided to take a risk and attack Ambition and tank the turret, a very risky play early on when turrets could kill the player easily. He had to have the confidence to execute the play, the knowledge that he has enough dmg and the skill to put it all together and to recognize the moment, all of that at the age of 16.

So basically the game is composed of three main lanes and the jungle. Along those lanes there are turrets and close to the base there are inhibitors the team needs to destroy in order to win. In the bottom lane, best known as bot, there are two players (bot and support) playing together as a duo, in the middle lane there is the mid laner. in top lane, the top laner, and in the jungle the jungler. The mid laner is usually (not always) the most important player in the game, is the one everyone recognizes in a team. A strong mid laner makes the game easier since mid lane runs right through middle of the map and split in two. There are major objectives that need to be taken in the jungle that gives the team buffs to push the lanes. Like you notice, one team has a blue side, and the other has a red side. In each base there is a main inhibitor that needs to be protected, if the team destroy it, they win. In this inhibitor spawns the minions waves (the other small characters you saw) these minions push through the lanes and help you take down the turrets. To win over your opponents you need earn gold to buy items during the game to make your states of endurance, damage, healing etc better, and this gold can be obtained killing the minion waves, taking objectives on the map, like turrets, inhibitors or monsters in the jungle and also by killing the enemy laners or champios. I hope this short description of the game helped you

The reason why 2022 was brief, is because another Legendary player (Deft) played in that series and won against Faker. When Deft enters the Hall of Legends, the whole 2022 DRX season will be in his Hall of Legends video talking about his rival and beating his rival, Faker.

HI!! Great reaction and I'm so glad to see you learning about Faker! PLEASE consider watching/reacting to all of the cinematic teasers from Worlds 2023, they are INCREDIBLE and will definitely give you chills! And they provide more context on who Faker is and his history with other players who played against him last year. People say that Worlds 2023 was so amazing as a comeback story that it felt scripted lol. You should start with the Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage Opening Teaser, then the T1 vs LNG teaser. After that, T1 vs JDG and then T1 vs WBG. I promise you will not be disappointed, the production quality was insane. They were all directed by Phil Choi who coincidentally is currently working on a T1 Documentary that releases later this month called "T1 Rose Together". After you watch Worlds 2023 stuff, you might find it really fun to go down the LCK Production rabbit hole. LCK makes some of the greatest season teasers of all time, one that I especially love is the LCK Spring 2024 Opening which features T1 in a really cool way.

For your early questions if noone answered "what is midlaner?". League is a 5v5 game where the square map is divided into 3 lanes, with the jungle in between. The 3 lanes are Top, middle, and bottom. Player each fulfill each role with a specific set of responsibilities being Top, Mid, Bot, Jungler, and support (who starts and spends most of their time with the bot laner). Faker is the best Mid-Laner of all time, popular for his deep champion pool (ability to play many charchters well), insane mechanics in his early years, and his pivotal role as a team leader. Hope this helps clear up a bit!

@xiablo3146
@xiablo3146 3 ай бұрын
To clarify some points: - League of Legends is a 5v5 games, the map is always the same, with 3 lanes to go to the ennemies base (to win you have to destroy a building at the center of their base). Like any sport you have 5 different roles for the 5 players, 3 "laner" who guard their lane, farm and fight on it, the toplaner, midlaner and botlaner (always called "adc" for attack damage carry but both name works), the jungle who farm in the jungle between each lane and travel secretly around the map to help laners to win their lanes, and the support who's helping the adc on botlane. - Each champions have his abilities and specialties that make them playable or not in different roles. The midlane is the lane where the most champions are playable but before Faker it was a lot more specialised on mages and assassins, he is the player who played the most different champions ever. - the competition is divides in different regions, the main ones are Korea, China, Europe and North america. At the end of the year, there is the worlds wich is the tournament with the best teams of the year (4 Korean, 4 Chinese, 3 european, 3 american and 2 other teams for the other regions that play a round of qualifiers) - In 2022, T1 was unbeatable, they even beat some record in Korea, they destroyed the strongest teams at the worlds, but lost the final against an underdog team, they never played that bad than during this final, huge deception for them

2:14 This is such a small legendary detail. Essentially games like League has ranked based matchmaking, even out side the ranked game mode to make sure the best players can't queue against the worst players. Him not being able to find matches anymore, meant there was no one in his skill bracket to match against within that game mode.

re: gameplay. The super simplified version is that League of Legends is two five player teams playing capture the flag. The goal is to fight through the enemy team's defenses to destroy their base, while they're simultaneously trying to get to yours. Each of the five players has a specific role (top lane, mid lane, attack carry (ADC), jungler, and support), and at the start of the game players choose a champion (ie Vi, Jinx, Ekko, etc) to use that works for their role. Each champion has their own unique skills and abilities. Player's champions can kill each other, but if that happens they respawn back in their own base after a few seconds. While they're dead, however, their team is short-handed.

Listen, I started playing League of Legends when it was 2016 and I have been hearing "Faker" here and there but was in the addiction of it all at College with new champions, new changes and stuff. So I was playing for hours a day without telling a lot of people so slowly but surely friends discovered me playing when I said I wasn't or wouldn't but I have been watching Faker's videos and it made me a better player today. Jumping into 2022 where I stopped playing and the downfall of Faker had already happened but I was not shaken to stop yet my laptop at the time crashed and so I thought I lost progress. It took me a year to get a job and to be able to afford the PC I have today but the strain of not playing on a laptop made me run to Wild Rift. Now, I still play League and I am proud to say that I grinded this 100 level pass in 4 days of non-stop playing and I might have not gotten the skin with a signature because it was too expensive and I don't play Faker's champion, I am proud to say that I own/owned the pass and I have been living through this man's legacy.

Just starting this reaction so I don't yet know if you liked this, BUT - before I got any further into it I wanted to give you a *ton* of credit. I've watched many (many) reactors explore LoL since Arcane was released. Whether they stick to the show, or add Bridging the Rift, or music videos, or cinematics, or react to lore videos from people like Necrit, or champion skins and voicelines, or Worlds Opening Ceremonies, or whatever else, it's all good. I enjoy sharing that journey wherever it leads. However, not one of them has actually taken the time to watch pro gameplay or explore the players. You're the first. And I appreciate that, because there's a reason Riot took Fortiche to the world finals in Paris. While you don't have to know anything about the esport or the game itself to enjoy the other media, it *is* part of what makes all this special. And, it's *why* we're able to have things like Arcane and K/DA and The Call. So while I hope the next 40 minutes is of you at least getting *some* enjoyment out of checking out the esports side, either way I really appreciate you taking the time to check it out.

The whole "he took out a comrade" is in reference to Kkoma, T1's coach at the time, was leaving. Kkoma had been with T1 since Faker's debut at that point. Also, I'm sure others have mentioned this by now, but in a League of Legends game, there are 3 main lanes. - 1 player in the Top Lane (Usually someone that can take a lot of damage, the tank) - 1 player in the Mid Lane (One of the damage dealers of the team) - 2 players in the Bot Lane (Another damage dealer, and the support) In between each lane is a forest area called the Jungle, one player on each team plays in this portion of the map. The role of the Jungler is to move around the map to create advantages for his team. It's also worth mentioning that Faker's achievements are so great that he's been exempt, or at least postponed, from mandatory military service in Korea.

It's hard to explain league of legends esports and playing it at a pro level on a team if you haven't played the game. It would be easier to compare it to an actual sport like basketball with a mix of chess, a highly competitive 5v5 team game. Also Ambition, Fakers first kill, was the player/protagonist in the Rise music video where he won and beat Faker at worlds in 2017.

Yes he is the only inductee in the hall of legends so far and the next one is gonna be so hard because Faker was the undeniable choice but now what? who follows him? It's going to be controversial for sure because it won't be as obvious and every region would want one of their players there, even though it should mostly be chinese or korean players (or even casters/coaches if they decide to do so). 2022 world championship where T1 lost the final game was absolutely insane, the most intense and close series there has ever been at worlds. The most hyped too. I will remember it forever and I doubt I will ever watch such an emotional/nerve wrecking esports event as that one in my entire life. I have been playing league since season 1 and I kinda never cared about faker at his peak because he has never really been very charismatic I guess, but these last 3 years he clearly has matured and has this "aura" that they were saying in the interviews, and now I can truly get behind him and get emotional watching this video. He really is responsible for League esports to blow up but also for esports in general, he really had such an impact. Congrats to him. If you didn't know, Riot released a skin in his honor and it costed 500$, yes. You read that correctly. Riot is such a disgusting company but atleast we have the players to support and care for.

When i started playing league in 2013 people used to type "is it him?!" in chat when there was a good kill. After a few months i learned they were all referring to faker. Even then, he was such a god at the game that his legend crept into my low skill blind pick lobbies as this simple phrase. When i realised that comment was referring to this person "faker" i went and googled him. I ended up learning to play different champs by watching his replays and have been a supporter of him and T1 ever since. Its 2024 now, 10 years later. It's insane to think. I hope he wins more. I hope the team returns to their true form. GL T1! GL Faker!

It's been a rough year for T1 this 2024 so I'm hoping they win their match in the regionals tonight against DK and go to worlds 2024 and win it all. But I do chuckle at the end when they look at the worlds trophy then you see the what next because T1 ended up going to Saudi Arabia well they actually had no choice same with GenG but T1 won the Esports World Cup so that was one more international win added to Faker's belt. You really should watch The Hall of Legends video Numbers if you haven't already the numbers are just so insane.
