You've mentioned the stabbing before and I wondered what happened. Years ago, every weekend we'd go to Boston and have dinner. We never were afraid of violent crimes back then, totally different today. Brigham and Women's is an excellent hospital. Glad it all turned out well for you, you were in good hands.

You haven't overshared, it is nice that you feel able to let us get to know you more. So thankful that you survived this horrific experience. It isn't surprising that you don't like people invading your personal space, even I don't like it when someone behind you in a queue gets too close. The whole having to pay for healthcare in the US is so anathema to us. Here (UK) if you get ill, are hurt in an accident or attack you will get treated for free, including aftercare such as physio or counselling if needed - and yes, we do realise how lucky we are.

Steven, I am so glad you survived because I am very fond of your videos and I would have never been able to "know" your humor & sweet love for those kitties of yours. You are a unique man & I am so, so sorry that this happened to you. I too have scars & I believe they are only proof that you have lived. Traumatic things happen to us and ,yes, those things teach us many things that others will never understand. You deserve to live well and long. Never apologize for being emotional for if you don't succumb to the occasional tear you aren't human. Men & boys deserve to be able to experience the entire spectrum of emotions & not feel restricted. I grew up during the time when "boys don't cry. If you do you're a pussy" . I say B.S. ! Stay well, strong, and be safe. Luv from Iowa !

I'm here after following the link attached to your 8-15-2022 video. I swear to my goodness. Steven. This is just horrifying to know what you share about your near fatal assault. I'm sure it was beyond horrifying for you in reality & echoes of that experience remains to this day. It seems you owned a strong inner fortitude to survive & resist being subdued by your physical pain & damages along with keeping your psyche in check well enough to not weaken into total helplessness. Sharing your story can help you as it did in 2019 & as it does again here in 2022...it also allows all of us to relate our emotions to someone we sort of know (by way of KZbin) & this can lead us to enrich our compassion for others. We're also reminded of how these unexpected situations can happen & that being alert can make a difference. I'm betting you've come to understand how you have a purpose in life...you survived circumstances which could have been deadly. God (by any name we choose) wants us to grow, learn, & share. Thank you for being in the world. You've shared more than a thing or 2 which have touched other people. I wish you, your cats, & all others near & dear the best lives possible.

Steven I just watched the video you posted today about this incident so I had to watch this video. First I want to say thank God you survived the stabbing. I can't even imagine what you went through. I'm so glad your sponsor was there for you. When I needed my sponsor she was always there for me. I have over 20 years sober now and it's really the best thing I ever did. Thank God that woman answered her door to. All I can say is I believe that God brought all the right people together the night you were stabbed to save you because you have more to do and it's not your time to go. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤️

I'm so sorry you were targeted by a sociopath; they are a chilling breed of human to come face to face with once their switch is flipped into predator mode. I'm glad you made it through that traumatic event, and I'm glad that you had at least one person who stood by you and took care of you as you went through it. Those individuals are few and far between in life, as I'm sure you know. How amazing that the couple who was facing their own fight-for-life opened their door on that late-night to help save yours. I don't know if you ever got to see them face-to-face again, but I do hope you did (and that the husband survived his treatment) and that you got to thank them personally for taking that risk. How very telling about their moral character that their adult children told you that they were so worried about you, even though they had a very full plate to deal with at the same time. Thank you for posting the link to this video (since I was clearly unable to find it...even though the title could not be more clear and obvious? lol).

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think it's possible to overshare. It might not be pleasant, but what we share makes us human. We, as humans, all experience the same things, maybe not to the same extent, but it just reminds me that we are more alike than we might ever care to admit. I overshare. When people say, "TMI", I can confirm they aren't the kind of people I want to talk to anyway. Think how boring a story is without TMI. I like knowing people who are interesting, but I love people who are real. You, Steven, are real. And brave because you are being who you are. I'm just beginning to approach bravery, and in the meantime all I can hope is to be found by some to be a little interesting. Tell Buddy, "Hey!" (Ala Mayberry, in case you don't read it with the accent.)

I agree...if we all knew each other's stories it would be so much easier to identify with other's pain and joys. There would be so much less conflict in the world if we all knew each other well enough to share ourselves. Buddy is doing well...although I did make him mad last night. I didn't let him out to terrorize a stray that was eating outside my door. Buddy wanted to make sure I knew, that he knew, I had ruined his chance for fun. I have a nice scratch from his show of displeasure. LOL!

@@flightattendantsteven I was watching a new (to me, at least) show on Netflix, Kitten Rescuers. Filmed in England, they had a lot of black cats that are hard to place. It can be the same here...stupid superstition. Thought of how lucky Buddy is to have found you! Thought of you when they gave advice: NEVER GET BETWEEN TWO FIGHTING CATS. You will get bit. Little late, but there you go! Buddy might want to get out so badly because it could be time for his little lady friend to be in heat again....yikes...unless she's preggers. 🙀

I don’t know what became of the bald man with brain cancer, but helping you may have been one of his final good deeds in his life journey?? It’s also quite obvious that God...The Great “Hey You” wasn’t ready for you yet😜 and as evidenced by your kindness and all the time that you give of so freely to others...helping strangers on their own journey’s...many that you will never know about or ever meet!!😇 I also know that Buddy and his buddies are mighty grateful that you are here!!😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸 Thank you for sharing!!🙌😊

Oh my gosh i certainly didn’t forget that video.! And I apologize in advance for this novel and for talking about myself but this is too personal and similar for me not to share in your experience. Forgive me! At some point after my accident i think you referenced the stabbing in a different video (or else I just remembered) and I realized we suffered some of the same injuries! Collapsed lung, lacerated spleen and I had a paralyzed left diaphragm rather than cut one. I remembered your scar and I think I was wondering if you had chest tubes also. I just rewatched it and yes, you did! I had these two boxes that were attached to my tubes and I not so fondly called them my baggage or “blood boxes.” Hated carrying them to the bathroom and EVERYWHERE. And the morphine drip! Omg. I could press it as much as I wanted But it only Released every 15 minutes. The DESPAIR I felt when I heard that dead click knowing it was too soon and nothing was coming. Ugh. Also Made me laugh when you said you didn’t know you had a catheter because I didn’t either! Not till days later. Lol. And I swear Steven, I begged the ambulance driver and nurses and docs NOT to call my mom! I was able to keep her away but she showed up at the hospital and tried to get in three times anyway. SMH. I have so many different scars on my left side from other injuries but the two I couldn’t stand were from the chest tubes. I called them buttholes cuz that’s what they looked like! They’re better now. Lol. I CAN NOT imagine what it felt like to be attacked. I went through nothing similar to that. That’s a type of trauma I may never truly understand. But I do understand the injuries and the misery of recovery. Not being able to breathe, walk, nothing. I also understand needing to thank the people who saved you. The depth of gratitude! It took me a year to have enough energy, but I took 70 gift baskets into ICU for all the nurses. I wanted to thank the paramedics also. But I’ve never been able to muster the courage to see them cuz even two years later I know I’ll lose it. They literally kept me from dying right there in the ambulance. And the blood on the door! Holy shit. I thought seeing my tire marks STILL two years later is bad. Can’t imagine seeing my blood. Shit. I’m so glad I watched this again. Got you beat on the bills though Steven! Mine were literally, one million dollars. Unreal. But I had insurance. Thank god. Still had to pay 50 grand of my own though. Lastly, don’t know how you LOST weight. After being on bed rest for months I GAINED 40 lbs. it’s literally taken me 7 months of dieting to lose it. Just hit my “before accident” weight yesterday! Though now I gotta lose the 20 I had gained before it even happened. Hahaha! Omg I really hope your not mad at me “blathering on” “blah, blah, blah”. But I just had to share in that near death experience. Though I still haven’t learned to accept help, I’m afraid I’m hopeless with that. But I did gain a respect and reverence for myself that I never had because I know what it took to get through it all. Which is priceless to me. ❤ Ps- I’ll consider us scar twinsees now. :).

Oh, yes...Rage. It's taken me these past (almost) years to try to be patient, loving and tolerant. Especially when I'm not getting what I think I need or what I think I want. I'm by no means a saint...just trying to be a good guy most of the time...but, that wasn't always my goal. LOL! When I hear somebody say, "That's just the way I am!" when defending an action, I shake my head. Anyone can change. I know from first hand experience. Oh, and no...the guy was never found. I couldn't give a good description of him.

So I heard that when you don't have health insurance and you can't afford to pay your hospital bill, they put you on some type of payment plan where as long as you make the minimum payment every month, you are fine and it keeps people off your back (even tho you will never end up paying it off completely by the end of your lifetime), is that true? And if you don't pay it, does it ruin your credit or prevent you from being able to do anything? What ended up happening for you?
@flightattendantsteven
@flightattendantsteven 5 жыл бұрын
Well, thankfully, in MA medical bills don't seem to ruin your credit. I was literally making payments of sometimes ten bucks a month...but, when I started living in my car (in Florida) I stopped that. Eating was a priority. My credit isn't perfect but, it's okay...better after years of paying bills on time. I doubt I'll be able to get a loan for a house that easily, but one day that would be nice.
