I remember when 4 Non Blondes hit the music circuit. This song was absolutely electric. Linda Perry has such a unique voice and unique vocal range, that as far as I know, no one else anywhere can match it. The changes and amplification in her voice is just chilling. An all girl band, well mostly, and their sound and rhythm match perfectly. Define toy one of my favorites, even still today.

After 4NB broke up, she *wisely* took her earnings from her platinum selling record and international tour, bought a big house in Texas where she could ride horses and motorcycles and run a business as a non-famous regular person. Decades of the rock star lifestyle isn't for everyone. It was for Linda but not Christa. You do know that Linda Perry is pretty fucking rich, right? You may not realize how much stuff Linda's name is on. You should look her up on Wikipedia.

Linda Perry was the lead singer of 4 Non Blondes. This was their only top hit. The band broke up while recording their second album because the lead singer was open as a lesbian and it caused problems with the other members of the band (because at that time coming out as a lesbian was something that people had mixed feelings about). The lead singer tried to have a solo career but it did not go anywhere. Years later, a top female singer, Pink, contacted Linda Perry and wanted her to write some songs for Pink's next album. The album was a huge success and since then Linda Perry has worked constantly as a songwriter and producer and has made lots of top songs for other artists (like Pink, Christina Aguilera; Alicia Keys; Gwen Stefani; Celine Dion;..) Linda Perry started her own record company and discovered/signed artist James Blunt.

Linda Perry rocks, no other way to say it. Another great group carrying on Linda's message is the Highwomen - a super group of some of the most talented females songwriters working right now. Would love to see you react to something from them, or any of their individual work. Much love!

Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians, as well as 10,000 Maniacs (with Natalie Merchant) should be on your "To Listen To List" for some other females with a similar vibe & voice.

Linda Perry and Grace Slick have a song that you never have heard, the radio does not play it; is such a badass song, but you can only hear it in “The Crow: City of Angels” movie soundtrack . Is one of the most heaviest blues song I’ve heard; it feels like heroin and I’ve never tried heroin!

There was an issue with copyright stuff in the title. The lyrics obviously don't match the title. Marvin Gaye had a song "What's goin' on?" They couldn't use the title, hence the title, "What's up?" She puts out Janis Joplin levels of screaming there.
