dude! i have been watching you since 2020 and i've been going to art school since 2018 (starting out in middle school) and every single time i watch one of your videos it urges me to just take out a sketchbook or a piece of paper or something and just draw. I once had an assignment to make a piece that is similar to an artist that I like and I chose your art. I feel a feeling whenever I watch your videos that I haven’t felt sense I was a kid. It’s safe, warm cozy and comfortable. I always feel a lot of inspiration & comfort when you post! Thank you for talking about everyone's art journeys being different. Lately I've been feeling down on myself for 'starting art late' (i drew a lot as a kid, then stopped as a teenager cos i was told it was a waste of time (urgh 😡) and then picked it up again a few years ago). Your art is so carefree and playful and I've been incorporating a sense of playfulness and ease into my art since i discovered you and I'm having a lot more fun! I'd absolutely buy those stickers if you managed to print on more durable paper (i would destroy ones on less durable paper 😂). A tour of your travel sketchbooks would be lovely too, love the look of the yellow one. Though honestly I'd be happy watching whatever you post! Anyways this turned into an essay, woops. Hey Sealdeer!! I’ve only commented on your videos once before (with a question about the phone taping scenario) and I only just noticed, you hold pens and pencils just like I do!! It’s pretty interesting since I’ve never been able to find anyone else that holds it the same way as me. Thanks for posting this video, it helps me find new ideas to stuff my sketchbook with. Quick questions, what markers/paints do you use for most of your colored drawings? Curious because I know I can’t use crayola forever haha. I make art videos too lol. I’m going to do a sketchbook tour on my channel soon once I’m finished with it and you were a pretty big inspiration to lots of the things I draw. Thanks!! -Sara

Haha no way!! I don't meet a lot of people who hold it like that either. The proper way just doesn't feel right! As for supplies, I'm not really loyal to any one brand but am happy to list some options :-) -watercolors: right now, I'm happy as a clam with a totf watercolor palette. Super cheap, 15 bucks for 48 colors, not very durable but perfect for my needs. if you want a step up, id grab one of those portable watercolor sets. you can get some for 15-20 bucks and they last a looooong time, plus they usually come with a water brush (and they're cute)! if you want to spend some more money, I also use Derwent permanent inks. The palette looks similar and functions like watercolor, but the ink won't bleed once it's dry. That one's about 40 bucks :-) -acrylic paint: gonna be so real. I swear by those cheap craft paints when it comes to my sketchbooks. Since I don't need much paint nor do I have a thick surface to cover, the fact I can get so many unique colors for cheap for different pages in my books is great :-) apple barrel, smartcraft, etc, I havent notcied much variation between the brands. If you want a better quality paint or larger quantities, I'm using golden and Windsor newton for my painting class and am very happy with them! -alcohol markers: I feel a lot of brands exist now that get the sort of even coverage copic used to have cornered, so you don't have to break the bank. Ohuhu is a brand I've used and enjoyed, and the arrtx ones I received aren't bad for the price. take a look at what your local stores have, and see if you're able to test them out! If there's colors I really love, sometimes I'll splurge and just buy one or two of the pricy brands. -other markers: real talk those crayola super tips are pretty fun to use. tombow is a nice non-alcohol marker that won't bleed through your pages! I've had these off brand brush tip markers for a while that I enjoy too, I think the brand is artskills? I've had em for years and I'm surprised by how often I go to them considering it was just a big cheap bulk package. Really vibrant colors! okay I wrote you a novel lol, hope this helps! 🫡

I'm still watching the video, but listening to this really helps me understand a lot of things. As someone with almost no confidence and self esteem, hearing that no one is ever late to get themselves into art, no matter if we starting young or old, is something that I really needed to hear. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I'd say I'm in the beginning of my own deeper journey with drawing, and god knows if I even want to take it as a profession in the future. But while I'm at it, I hope to be able to make the most of it. And I hope that anyone else that is struggling with procrastination or even self esteem can also achieve their goals and enjoy this journey, while we are all at it.

I've only recently come across this channel, and already I love your voice and your commentary, you just seem to get like me and obviously a large group of people. I love watching your videos WHILE drawing, the art style, the way you make these videos, the vibes, everything is inspirational even if it doesn't mean to be. I normally hate inspirational things because they never seem to feel genuine or like the speakers mean what they say. But you and your videos, regardless of whether they are meant to be taken as inspirational or not, help. A LOT.
