I've been flying FPV for years now and sometimes it upsets me that things are more overly complicated today than they were a few years ago. All the bugs, incompatible parts, jenky firmware issues etc make it extra daunting for new pilots that actually want to build. something. That being said....there are MUCH better BNFs now so that's good. I've often said that FPV is full of companies that sell us products that are essentially in BETA and we're the testers.

Yes! TBS is supposedly the market leader in rx, but their products are so counter-intuitive, so operator- UNfriendly, it's ridiculous.. Seems like they're purposely making things more difficult for us mere mortals.

Just got a TBS Tango 2 last week, flashed it to the last firmware with Agent X directly. Couldn't bind. But the screen of the Tango 2 told me to use Agent M ! So I did, reflashed, and it worked and bind in the end.

Thanks! Was very frustrated when trying to bind two of my crossfire quads. The recommendation to use "Agent M" and to activate the "Golden Firmware" (with the comment that sometimes you might have to reboot or redo it) was the key to getting me in the air.

There's a lot of firmware updating and flashing with e l r s and it's real easy to make a mistake doing that. You're working with Bin files updating Lua scripts. Elrs can be no walk in the park either. Unless you're already great at flashing firmware

Glad they didn't break the bootloader yet :P Tried to get a DOA CRSF rx to work (radio seems dead inside) and tried to get it to bind by cycling/downgrading firmwares of RX & TX. Ran through every single issue you showed here. "bricked" tx, not relinking after flash, having to flash twice, having to rebind everythnng, rx recovery & golden firmware, etc. Took me hours to realize that one RX might just be dead and get everything back to work after… and a ton of mental energy not to throw that shit into a wall. What happened to TBS being always rock solid… x.x

Had same Problem with the app. Web based agent worked for me. Had to Troubleshoot this on my Own. Also the radiomaster sorro has a bug with crossfire you cannot connect to rx menu to setup your channels. Sometimes it works sometimes the lua will not work. I connected the crossfire modul and the copter to the pc and set up all the different settings with my Computer. That worked for me

I experienced an interesting phenomenon in the last day, resulting in 2 issues, only one of which has been resolved, the other i'll attempt to address later this evening. 1. After a month of not flying anything I attempted to fly yesterday (8/31) with a Tracer equipped quad. I had used this quad before heading to EU for vacation, and expected no issues. Well, I tried to arm and realized nothing was happening. Upon further inspection, the rx had a solid red LED; following the bind procedures, none worked and i couldn't update. So, I updated my Tx tracer module and wasn't able to connect or bind still. For this, I'll need to use the emergency recovery process, but this issue led to #2. 2. I powered up my Mambo, and still, no dice. I couldnt bind to or update the Rx. I plugged in another Tracer quad, and it would connect to the Mambo, but not my Tx module. moving on, I decided to update the mambo; in the middle of the update, I received an error and it bricked the tx. I could not start the tx, the computer wouldnt recognize it, and if i plugged in, it only showed the charging battery sequence. I followed along with every video, advising to hold down the page button while plugging in to activate the bootloader mode. I did this, tried to update firmware, and every attempt failed when restarting as it required a linked device. After hours of trying, i gave up and decided to dig some more, ignoring every video out here. Then , i found it - hold down the MENU button to activate TRACER Bootloader mode - THIS allowed the Tracer firmware update and 'unbricked' the device. Upon completion the tx started up right away as per normal, and i was able to complete my updates. I think a blip in my home internet connectivity may have caused the initial failure. I still can't understand why the Rx's failed to connect prior to any update activity. Hope there's a nugget of help in here somewhere for someone else!

Got a question about micro tx v2. What causes the blue light and no connection when you set output max power to 1 watt and dynamic power on? You can hold you hand on the antannae on the tx module and the light stays green and connects but move it and there goes your connection and you get the blue light

From day #1 of owning the Tango 2, the crossfire ecosystem has never been trouble free for me. Tango was shipped with a software bug out of the box making it necessary to open and unplug the battery. I almost returned it right then, then a few days later the power bug was acknowledged and fixed. From that point, binding bugs bit me with every update. I suffered from the "half-bound" firmware bug that you called out on last year. It was never fun knowing that 50% of my xf receivers would fail to update OTA, and require a reset using emergency recovery to fix. Thanks for the video on this crossfire debacle... I've been seeing people complain about crossfire failsafes for a while with 4.3, failed flashes, etc, this sums it all up perfectly. I'm going to hold off updating for as long as possible.

Well, I am definitely not happy right now. During fw update, after the main fw and then the restart is checked I get no lights on my micro tx v2. This is not a recognizable condition and i am forced to try replug but get no lights. Then only option is to press the button and am back at square 1, in bootloader mode. ☹

Happened to me with 3 different receivers about half a year ago. They won't even do the emergency update receiver anymore, though the receiver itself looks fine. Switched to a different system because of it, very disappointed in TBS on this one.

The only thing I could get was the Micro TX V1 , b/c V2 are sold out.. Using Agent M It loaded the 6.17 firmware in step 2, but in the next, 3rd step it said it could not find a compatible device. I see Micro TX (bootloader) but I'm stuck. It says it's paired, but now I see Error Code 5. SOS.

Hey Joshua, im having troubles with my bf4.3 and my tango2 pro(updated go latest versions) some how when im flying im kinda losing linkage. Its like when I do a flip , it will lagged or somekind of rclink not getting proper signal and my quad will tumble mid air and catch it back. Theres no prompting of tele loss or rx loss. This happened with bfrc3 and new tbs update. Was working perfectly fine with old bf4.2.11 and the old 2yrs back tango2 fw.

This problem may not be a Crossfire problem, but rather motor desyncs. If this problem only happens after harsh movements (flips and rolls etc) it might be an indicator for motor desyncs.

The chip shortage caused all new crossfire receivers to be shipped with new version 6.10, but my crossfire TX module won't bind with any receivers when updated to version 6.10. I'm still using version 3.27 and never encountered failures so I just choose not to update since firmware updates are a mess!!!

TBS is crap if you want flash firmware i got Tango 2 and its imposible to flash it no mather what you do…. i spend like 4h and folow every steps gues what nothing. TBS radios are junk but TBS make great VTX no radios… Still use my Tango but looking to switch to ELRS

This didn't fix the problem with my MicroTX V2. It only goes into bootloader mode, and will finish step 2 (Ma8n Firmware) of the update, but then gets stuck on the "Linking USB Device" screen to move on to step 3 (Subsystems) of the installation and won't go any further. If I push the button again it will flash light blue/teal volor really fast but won't reconnect the USB device. Is there a factory reset or something that I can try. I haven't found much helpful Information on this problem.

we want to update a mambo from tracer 5.15 to the latest firmware. after the update, both with agentx and m, the software says "successful" but the mambo remains on version 5.15. Is this a known problem or does anyone know a solution?

Are you sure you are flashing the Tracer firmware and not the FreedomTX firmware.

Hi Joshua, I have a question. So there is a lot of things about controllers, protocols, video transmitters etc. Why is no one just using over internet transmission? Especially for long ranges that would make sense to just hook up your drone to some raspberry pi with a mobile internet connection, you could fly your drone in the USA from the basement in Europe. I know that latency would be a nightmare but I'm more focused on transmission speed and reliability. Or maybe there is something like that but I was looking around the internet poorly?

Technically long range is illegal in every country. But yes there are systems that allow control link over the internet, and actually Rotor riot has done an episode doing exactly that. But like JB said the latency would be extremely high, and you would be limited to areas with cell coverage or internet connection. Modern control links are capable of going over 100KM and have near zero latency so why would you need anything else? And the reliability of an internet connection is near zero so it's very unsafe to use for control. Also Orqa has teased 5G video link systems for commercial use. It is not for hobby grade rc, racing, or freestyle at all.

My problem wasn't with Agent x, it was with Agent M. I tried to use M on Android to use the Telemetry feature on the latest update, and it bricked the Wi-Fi in my full-sized module... pretty annoying. Because I updated from 6.13, I had to pull everyone of my quads apart and manually hit the bind button. Since the beginning of the year, I've had to update all of the firmware on my 8 quads three times, and the flying season hasn't even started yet. I have new Nano rx's, old ones, and a TBS 69, and a couple of my quads are on 4.3.. I really hope they sort this out soon.

OTA update from 6.13 to newer firmware appears broken once again, rollback to 6.13 if you can't be bothered to hit all the bind buttons again, worked for me.

@@spikester thanks! yeah I found that out from Trappy a week or so ago... 6.13, and 6.14 had the broken binding button issue. I had to upgrade to 6.17 because I'm running betaflight 4.3 on a couple of my quads, and there was an issue with Baud rate negotiation, resulting in fail-safes at short distance. I had to take apart seven of my eight quads to get to the bind button. It sucked. It took me about six hours to update all of my Crossfire receivers. Trappy promised me that that would be the last time I would have to deal with this..😅🔫

@@willpowerfpv3246 Indeed regarding BF 4.3, I believe I hit that CSRFv3 bug a few months ago and crashed once or twice, if thats the same bug that also lags the entire remote screen when it happens. I do have a 2nd Tango 2, so I will see if I can force the receivers into bind mode with my existing 6.13 flashed t2 and then try the OTA update with the 6.17 flashed t2.

@@willpowerfpv3246 I can confirm it works was able to get one of my nano rx to 6.17 without taking it all apart. with 6.13 tx module already bond to nano rx, factory reset the nano rx, upon next power cycle it will then be in bind mode. enter bind mode on 6.17 tx module, it will then OTA update to 6.17, if it doesn't bind at this point try toggling off & on multibind if you use that, perhaps this is where the OTA updates are breaking those using multibind. You unfortunately need a 2nd crossfire tx module however.

Before the issues with agent X I was getting frustrated that I had to regularly (in order to keep upto date with the TBS updates) put my nano receivers into emergency mode to get them to work. Personally I've found Elrs to be much easier.

So i bet the new firmware caused your quad to lose its signal right? Mine doesnt even prompt any warnings and my quad just landed for no reason. All thanks to the new fw updates on rx and tx as well. Newer isnt any better. The firmware back 2years ago was the most stable one

On my tango 2 tbs bootloader on agent m it says: firmware: v0.00 and under it says No settings. So what now?? there is no other options. There is not even option to update or downgrade firmware on agent m in normal mode.

The answer is to re-flash it with the latest version available. If you're unable to do that, contact TBS support.

I am SO so sorry that I bout this SH. I put lots of money into tbs and the time that I flew is minimal compare to what I use to buy and enjoy before!!!? I have burnned up several of their recievers!!? and I have been solderrin for over 20 years and I have all the equipment. it works fine until you connect to the internet or the tbs or what ever freakin thing. mY ADVICE. Once it works destroy the wifi on your dron so that no one wanted or unwanted can access it. SO YOU NEVER AGain have to PAY LOTS OF MENEY AND Get fked.....

I cannot fly since 16th of march for a bricked Micro TX. I already tried the bootloader mode flash with Agent M with no success (2 macs, 1 pc). TBS is giving extremely bad support for now. I'm thinking of releasing the email exchange with them, it's ridiculous. @@MrSabram07 5 hours? That's a bit too long lol. I have 7 HM Ep1 and Ep2 recivers flying fine and always flashed the first time. Only takes about 1 minute each. 30 seconds to connect 30 seconds to flash. Good luck!
