I'd only add this. You absolutely don't need to know the rules, but as you gain experience as a player, you should make the effort to learn the rules, at least for your character, as well as you can. It will make you a better player, and it will make the game smoother and more enjoyable. btw, saw your actual play of Nimble the other day. Lots of fun. Hope you do a full game with those guys sometime.
