This is so gorgeous but the difference between the actual tattoo we're seeing in the video and that unrealistic super saturated photo at the end is the reason I'm extremely wary of colour realism.
@hannrkelley4 жыл бұрын
@星の王子さまサイヤ人じん I disagree! I appreciate both, but I prefer colour, just not hyper realism style. The crazy amount of shading with colour or b&g just doesn't seem to age well in that style. But they look incredible in the first few years.

I think it looks much better in the actual video. Seems like they've way outdone the saturation and manipulated the photo to make it pop way too much.

I usually like how artists combine a black and grey tattoo with coloured tattoo...to me that looks way cool..like a sleeve might be a black and grey but some small parts like the eyes and flowers have bright colours like turquoise or yellow😍😍🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️

That is absolutely beautiful and dude is obviously talented. But does not seem like it will last. I’ll take my black and grey tattoos with bold, black outlines for longevity.
@redlipsofdeceit4 жыл бұрын
This tattoo reminds me of what Chris Nuñez, Oliver Peck and other famous tattoo artists always say: tattoos must have outlines, even when the artist is doing realism, 'cause tattoos like that one in the video won't have longevity. It will look just like a burn mark in a few years.
@heyy134 жыл бұрын
It depends who does it and how it's applied. Generally yeah your right, and colour is harder to do correctly so it doesn't fade. But I have a full colour watercolour-ish (it's more vibrant than a normal watercolour) style tattoo on my calf which is about 2 and a half years old and I've go 0 fading or blurring. It has one little tiny blowout which was there when it healed. I'm fully aware i'll have to get it touched up at some point, but if you do your research it's not really that different to black and grey. EDIT: All this said, i actually discovered i prefer outlines on my tattoos through this experience. Just from an aesthetics perspective. So even before it needs touching up after covid i want some grey outlines on the outside.

As a ginger person in a sunny Mediterranean country I treat face&neck, scars and tattoos the same - unless there's a storm I wear 50 spf *always* On very sunny days with high radiation I don't let sensitive skin see sun at all if I can avoid it (long sleeves, wide hats etc)

what he says in the beginning of the video about color being harder and needing more skill is false to me I'm a tattoo artist myself 1st i have to say i love all styles of tattooing but to me imo b/g requires more skill i always said if u tattooed the same exact image one color one b/g and both came out really great looks exactly the same just one is colored i appreciate the b/g one more because it came out looking just as good as the color one but it was done using multiple tones of one color the artist has to really know what there doing they have to mix so many tones of black and grey from really feathery soft tones to super blacks to make everything work and look appealing just like the color one i feel as if there thought-out more more work being done imo while the colored one was done in whatever tone of whatever color u used in that section of the tattoo they make so many tones of each color already so the ink companies in a sense made it easier for the artist they don't have to build that tone up u just simply pour the color ink of the tone you desire I'm a black and grey tattoo artist i grew up doing graffiti and drawing cartoons, comic and anime character's and also painted acrylic/oil paintings so before tattooing i already knew color theory what colors look good next to each other and whatnot but i chose to stick with b/g tattoos but I've done color realism tattoos that came out looking great that's because i know what I'm doing with black and grey i know how to apply ink well to the skin so i simply treated those color tattoos as if they where b/g i just simply packed in the tone of color i desired not that hard not saying its easy in anyway but I've been tattooing for a long time and is a true artist as he is in the video so kind of have an advantage already lol now lets take a only color only artist and see if he uses his color theory to do a b/g tattoo not the same my coworker is a color only artist and he struggles with b/g he cant get the tones he wants so he only does about 3 tones through the whole piece and they just look bland doesn't really pop but he barely does b/g now if he practice's more i know he'll get it but yeah that's just my opinion on it

I'm worried with how that flower is bloomed, if that fades that petal with a heavy black shade right at the middle will look like... A different flower 😂 just saying coz that part will definitely stay and the red will be a lot Pinker. Hahahah

Some colours are more prone to fading, reds are often one of the first colours to go, from memory it’s something to do with how it absorbs UV radiation compared to some other colours, white also turns to yellow quite quickly. Inks have come a long way in the past 50 years, realistically we have no idea how some of these new inks will age, & we won’t know until people who have more recent ink age. You can make a huge difference in the life span of your tattoo by taking proper care of it, regular moisturiser, keeping it out of direct sunlight whenever possible & putting on sunscreen when necessary etc.
