Another awesome episode! think being an athlete is as much of a mindset as anything else. It’s putting your best foot forward no matter what, believing in yourself and working towards being better than you were yesterday. Persistence, resilience and passion for your sport. A mindset that you can apply to things beyond sport- improving how you show up for yourself and others.

I really enjoyed this episode. ❤ I think everything is down to personal interpretation and as long as you enjoy your training don't worry about the name as such. Loved the conversation though and I always find them encouraging. Thank you x

100% what he said! People can get hung up on labels and actually, any sort of strength & running/cycling etc training could be considered hybrid - a very thought provoking topic and a great discussion as always. Looking forward to finding out who the next guests are too 😊

would you consider athletes training for spartan races hybrid? also would you consider doing a video where you train like one?

It’s great to make hybrid inclusive but I have always thought of endurance as say a 10 k or above and a cycle walk or swim over an hour 😊 Maybe it has it’s origins in military training

I'm not usually one to comment but I found this discussion about definitions quite frustrating. You guys are all about encouraging people to participate in sport, get into the gym and start 'where you're at' but this discussion sounded like an attempt at 'gatekeeping'. Surely 'hybrid' is a training modality and as such people shouldn't have to hit minimum distances or numbers of medals to qualify... Competing in events is very expensive and certainly not something everyone can include in their goals. References to being 'superior' or above average also aren't helpful... Especially if you consider that the actual AVERAGE person probably doesn't run or lift AT ALL. Running 5k certainly isn't something everyone can do...

“It’s going to be based on the individual” “that distance could be different for others” “It’s more of a scale, not a criteria” I appreciate you getting involved in the convo mate, but did you decide to ignore these summaries I had made?

@mycoachbenji In truth, I wrote this part way through the episode. It was clear later on that both you and Cal were aware of how it was coming across so I guess I was talking more to Lucy. I didn't want to single her out. Anyway, it just touched a nerve.

@@healthyhabitscoach2621 Hey completely get your points, but we did say we want everyone involved in sport so it can't be defined by a number after the initial convo 😃 I think the term is hard to define which is why we went back and forth over the topic!

This conversation was kind of gross. The absolute “WANT” For hybrid to be a group that’s almost closed to a select few with credentials was again gross. Hybrid athlete means nothing basically.
