Been plowing for years now. I think back o when the equipment was not as nice. Noisy cold bumpy and had to be able to use a manual transmission. Great scenery on your video. I enjoyed it. As a supervisor now my time is spent in a one ton pickup and deal with issues. Sometimes I miss the operators seat .👍👍👍👍👍

yes equipment nicer now. But i'm not sure an automatic transmission works the best. Computer not smart enough, or fast enough to select the gear needed. I use it in manual, but can be slow shifting on the steep hills.
@tomvarano328310 ай бұрын
Yes a manual always works best. I feel you have more control. The older guys are not such big fans of the new transmissions the younger guys think they are great. Anyway slow and steady always wins the race. The other motorists don’t know that we are over weight with a fully dressed truck and a load of salt/ grit and also brine . The SOP is fully dressed empty or not 35 mph max.

I started operating snow plow in mid 90's machinery and trucks were cold, noisy and rough suspensions but they got the job done. I think the snow fighters who post here might agree the automatic transmission makes our jobs easier. Well great video and also love the scenery the office day or night .Haha

It would be nice to turn the music off and have you tell us how you do your plowing. I'm sure it's more involved than just driving around.

I work in Manitoba Canada as a plow truck driver. My truck has a rexroth 550 system in it but it used to be a 440 system but converted to the 550 as a tryout also my wing is mounted to the middle and rear of the truck and also equipped with high speed underbelly scraper And good video it’s cool seeing that other places have for plowing units
@rogerwestgate472410 ай бұрын
Do you like the rear mounted wing better?
@daimondgamer05anthony210 ай бұрын
@@rogerwestgate4724 yes for the most part but I’ve never used a front mounted wing before but my boss liked the front cable wings better just because you can drop the wing then just lift up the wing enough to make the cables tight. But i like the view that the rear wing gives tho I like running the grader the best just for the view of everything and for having the ability to scrap the pavement

I always wondered, how do you know where the curbs and speed bumps are so you don't damage them or your equipment?
@ruggedshoresmedia9 ай бұрын
you get to know your route. You only hit them once. But it does happen.

I mostly push with either a 250 or a 550, straight blades, I love taking my turn on an old International with a one way plow, six wheeler and pushes snow nicely, could use a better heater. I wouldn't mind hearing the truck run and your commentary.

How do you keep your wiper from icing up

Put heat on full defrost, and open window. Wait until I stop then flip them. Ya can be tense at times.

I notice you run with the front of the wing cylinder right down. Viking put the slot in the front slide so the front of the wing can jump up if it hits an obstruction like a curb. The cylinder should be set at the top of the slot.
