Textured finish is the new gloss finish. Once they see it and feel the grittiness of it they’re all going to want for themselves. Trendsetter Marty 🤔👍

Sweet car Marty. Ernie was my favorite driver. As far as cutting brass I would mark it with a square, and then cut outside the lines. Then file to the lines. Just my two cents. It may sound counterintuitive but adding weight near the rear axle may increase grip. Carry on dude.

My wife bought me a mini table saw for Christmas, use the fence and it cuts a perfect straight line.

I was looking at those Greg. Probably a perfect solution..

I've had a mini table saw for years. It won't cut 1/16" brass, but it does a great job on .032 & thinner.

Marty, just remember, it's not always the fastest car that wins. There's a lot of banging going on, esp in the larger scales, and anything can happen just like real racing !! That's part of the fun for me.
@twolinesslotcars15 күн бұрын
Yes, you are right.. it's all about getting that car around the track in one piece! If I am being honest.. I just want the car to not be a problem for the guys racing.. if they enjoy driving it.. then I will have won.
@billffromnh15 күн бұрын
Marty, here's one alternative for cutting sheet brass straight. I got this about 25 years ago from an old home racer named Rocky Russo, who lived in the Denver area. Buy a bi-metallic hacksaw blade & use its toothless edge as a ruler. Clamp or tape this ruler where you want to cut. Then take a Dremel with a carbide cutoff disc & slide it along the edge to cut. The soft brass will cut easily & get hot, but the hacksaw blade is so hard it's edge will become polished but it's not easily cut. If you double up the carbide discs, they will be less apt to break. Soaking them in ATF usually helps too.

@marty a HarborFrieght mini cut off saw works well for cutting square brass tube. it similar to a mitre saw, but way smaller.

@twolinesslotcars14 күн бұрын
Doug, I would say that Dusty and I built similar cars and should be very close.. I think my Maverick might get him, but his NASCAR might get me.. but that will be up to the guys behind the triggers LOL.. I am a little short on grip.. so if I don't find grip on Harry's track.. it might be a long day for me. But I will be happy if they just make the race in time..

Great job Marty, runs good. Do you prefer the guide that much forward? On my narrow track i have better results and less overstear with the guide mounted near my front axle - but that only applies to my own driving style. I am just curious. Greatings, Carsten
