I’m only a recent lover of his. His flamboyance, freedom and colour are a real boon for someone who grew up in 80s Britain and everything that went with that. How he deals with sex and sexuality is inspiring as you say. All About my Morher is my favourite but I agree Bad Education has real power at its core. In truth they all have something to explore and understand. Love the series Dion. It’s as insightful as it is ambitious. 👍

Thanks for the kind words Chris took a while to make a new one but it was worth it. Plenty of great films from one filmmaker for sure. Need more Bad Education fans in the world.

We don't talk about Bruno. We talk about Pedro.

Nice video. My introduction was Matador, which was perfect. I am pretty good upto mid-90's when he started to get respectable-ish. Need to watch more of them from then on.

Thanks boss! Matador is a great one to start with. Plenty more cracking films from him too.

Plenty of great ones to watch. What did you think of Parallel Mothers?

Pain and Glory is my favorite film he's made overall (edging out Talk to Her), but I think he really put it all together starting with Live Flesh. The only film I'd consider inessential from 1997-2021 is I'm So Excited, and even that one is more amusing than its reputation. There are gems in the first 15 years too, like Women on the Verge and Law of Desire, but I found him more hit-or-miss then, and the taboo-breaking humor didn't always land. I know there are people who feel the opposite -- they like the wilder films he made in the '80s and early '90s. It's similar to the situation with Woody Allen fans re: the "early, funny ones" vs. the likes of Hannah and Her Sisters, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Husbands and Wives.
