Don’t you know that we have been given what Paul called a mystery hidden from previous ages - namely, the indwelling Holy Spirit ? He called it “Christ in you” - why do these people cry out for the Holy Spirit to “come” to them? Don’t they know he is already in them and goes wherever they go? It is sad that maybe the most miraculous thing God has done - namely dwell in us by his spirit - seems to be unrecognized by so many as they beg him to come down into their midst?

I certainly don't know everything, but I can sense when something is or isn't of God a whole lot clearer that what I used to. He is so amazing. I saw your comments about how Heidi could be influenced by a 'demon spirit.' I have personally experienced both evil spirits and the Holy Spirit...so here are my thoughts. No pressure to believe one way or the other...just thought I would let you know my story. I was filled with the Holy Spirit beautifully when I was a child. This resulted in peace and joy and indescribable love within me. No words can explain the depths of it. The Spirit of Jesus is awesome and never ever left after the first apostles, just like He promised when He said, "I will never leave you or forsake you." A little over a year ago, I experienced a traumatic experience that resulted in severe depression that I soon discovered was demonic (I could tangibly feel it moving on my back and effecting my mind). The Holy Spirit led me to God's Word, which I stood on, and I am completely free. The Supernatural Word of God is truer than anything we experience on this earth, so everything MUST line up with it. So awesome!! Anyway, before I recognized what the Holy Spirit was promoting me to do, I sought out a man who claimed he could cast out demons and checked out his website to make sure everything lined up with the Bible. This man has a great heart and intention, but I now feel this work can be done in a way that glorifies God more, and the demon(s) less. During the meeting, out of many people, he looked right at me and said, "you have demons, and they are coming out tonight." I was so relieved that someone finally saw the agony I was in. He told me to relax and just kind of yield so he could "talk to them." yuck! I though...whatever, thats fine, just get rid of it!... For nearly 2 hours I allowed something evil to answer this man's questions and commands. Many feelings and emotions that I recognized (hatred, strife, rebellion, etc...) were associated when screams would come out. I feel it is important to note that I could have stopped this at any time. My choice to yield was necessary, and I chose to do so, because I thought I had tried everything else. At the end he cast the demons out, and my body fell to the ground, almost as if it was forced backwards. Nothing changed for me after this meeting. In fact, I felt worse than before I went. I could still feel tangibly something evil, and saw a lot of broken and confused people in even worse situations (spiritually) that I was in. I had a thought come to me on the way back...'why would this man want to speak to demons and ask them questions'...'the devil is the father of lies, and his demons must be liars too. What could anyone benefit from this process?' So now I had a sore throat and felt discouraged on top of my mess (constant horror). In my desperate cry out to God one night, I felt impressioned to google a statement and found Andrew Wommacks teaching on 'spiritual authority.' A few weeks after implementing what he teaches (pretty much knowing the authority we have through Jesus and speaking His truth over ourselves), I felt clearer and at peace again. If you could feel what I was feeling and thinking 100% of every day and every night, you would have no doubt of the miraculous and powerful authority we have through what Jesus did when He defeated death. I will never stop being amazed!! I have no doubt that I am completely freed from everything, and that I always will be...because He said it, and everything He says is incorruptible, and really does manifest through our faith. So, having experienced both evil and the Holy Spirit, I can genuinely say that because both are in a realm that we tend to not acknowledge, it is easy to see why we sometimes make the mistake of saying they are similar. In some ways, I recognized similarities. My free will and decision to yield were very much a part of both experiences. However, yielding to evil spirits to the level where they used my vocal cords to speak felt very, very different from when I yield to the Holy Spirit to speak through me in other languages. When I yielded to evil spirits, I felt aggression and rebellion. When I yield to the Holy Spirit I feel peace, and a knowing that God is working all things out for my good and for His Glory. Both require the yielding, and both result in movements and speaking that are involuntary, but yielded to. The more I yielded, the more I felt my body doing movements that I knew wasn’t because my brain told it to. The more I yield to the Holy Spirit, the more I feel my spirit longing to know Jesus more and love Him more. Sometimes when I pray, and I know God is speaking through me about His will about something, the Holy Spirit is so strong, that my body has little movements in ways that show my spirit can handle more than what my body does. Almost like when you get a chill or goosebumps when you connect with a friend about a deep topic, or while reading the Bible and getting a wow moment...just more intense. I believe with all my heart that Heidi Baker is yielding (continually) to the Holy Spirit so much that her spirit and the Spirit of God within her are manifesting in small ways through a body that cannot contain it and still appear normal. She expresses the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit on levels that many of us have never experienced. The Holy Spirit is beautiful and all-powerful, and lives in us. We do not need to fear any evil spirits, and knowing their names, or what they call themselves is so not necessary. I have read the New Testament many times with this in mind, and I see where people could take certain verses out of context, but Jesus never spent time discussing anything with the evil spirits. He commanded them and moved on preaching that the kingdom of heaven is here! Let's take our eyes and resolve within ourselves to get to know Jesus more and more, and trust Him enough to not fear the supernatural. He gave us authority over all things on this earth...a supernatural authority. Maybe we can make the choice to focus on the One who is over all of this, and stop giving so much attention to evil things. Who you are once you receive Jesus is beyond amazing! Once we know this, we don't even need to know their names or what they do...we just command and they run. Resist, and he will flee. Heidi, and so many others are showing resistance through intimacy with Jesus, and I hope to continue to do this as well.
