The Girl who is dancing, is the Groom cousin wearing Tongan dancing -(ta'olunga) costume. She perfor a dance (ta'olunga) for the Groom family to lay money on her. The money will collect including the (tapa) fabric infront and on the floor, and will be given as a gift to the wedding couple'. People who is dancing behind the Girl is the groom family', they are dancing as tulafale usually done by man and always behind the main performer - the girl'.

Hi Soane, I have been watching a lot of your videos lately and enjoy them very much. I was wondering what the meaning is behind the dances of the ladies in front? I often see that there's money placed on them and a piece of fabric placed in front of them on the floor. I'm from the Netherlands by the way.
