Soaping Quick Tip - Premix Titanium Dioxide

Watch me premix my titanium dioxide! In my opinion this is the easiest and most convenient way to use TD. This is hopefully the first of several Quick Tip videos. They aren't strictly tutorials, simply tips based on how I do things. Research for yourself before taking advice from the internet!! Enjoy!!

Hello thank you for your video. I tried premixing i have the beads in bottle and gave it a good shake however it separates when just sitting there and all the TD settled at the bottom of the bottle? What have i done wrong

Nothing the TD just disperses in the water, it doesn't actually dissolve.

I usually don't. As long as you don't add too much, the extra water will evaporate during the cure.

how long does it keep once it's mixed, does it need to be refrigerated to stay fresh?

It should keep for around a week. Any longer than that, and I refrigerate it. You could also add a preservative if you like, but I use mine up within a week of making it typically.

Do you need to refrigerate the remaining in the bottle for next time?

I don't. If you make it in large quantities, you might consider doing it to prevent mold contamination. I usually use the bottle up within a few weeks, so I don't worry about it.

Do you use water discount?

I use a water discount in most of my recipes. But the amount of water that's added is usually only a few teaspoons so I don't usually account for that. Thanks for watching!

Hi, can I use this in melt n pour soap ?

Ocean Queen I'm not sure. I rarely make melt and pour, so I don't really have any experience coloring it. But, I do know that there are colorants specifically formulated for melt and pour which would probably give you the best results. Thanks for watching!

Nini Sparkle I've only used it once or twice before. In my personal experience, I prefer this method...I feel like it mixes easier. I don't have any experience premixing in oil, so you'd have to find better instruction than me for that. 😊
