Soaring 3D prints: GPS loggers for migratory birds by Anitra

Dusan Rak is a biologist and one of the founders of the Anitra System company. They specialize in technological solutions for animal tracking (so-called telemetry). Their main products are GPS loggers for monitoring birds and other animals. These devices are able to send data via mobile phone networks anywhere in the world, mapping even the vast distances migratory birds travel during each of their migrating seasons.

To waterproof your cases paint a thin layer of UV resin on them and cure them with a UV pen torch, the additional weight is negligible and they will be 99.9% waterproof

This is sn awesome Project, not the only one though. The Max Planck institute for Ornithology in Germany have launched the ICARUS-Project that does the same thing. Maybe you could work together in order to protect even more Birds together?

Do some of the devices emit light? I spotted a group of tiny lights in the night sky above the Bay Area, CA. They moved in a v shape of approximately 10-12 light dots with the organic speed and irregularity of a flock of geese or pelicans, which often migrate here. Three more dots followed behind. An ascending aircraft from San Jose airport, 14 miles from my viewpoint, revealed the dots flying beneath it, so the altitude was fairly low. Just curious.

Maybe Anitra system should look for LW-ASA from colorfabb? in its foamed stage its weight is reduced almost twice.
