Most of my need for small belts like this is for vintage audio-visual equipment restorations and repairs. The idea of using anything other than a continuous belt has never been considered due to the wow and flutter that would be introduced each once around because the spliced belt would not likely have the same flexibility at the splice point. I am curious to try urethane belts however to test my theory.

I bet it would work well if it doesn't get too hot. It would be a lot like the spring belts that used to be common on projectors.
