This is a great ride that offers roughly a 20 minute adventure based on real, local pirate history. The queue line theming, backstory video, elevator pre-show, ride, and final bonus scene in the exit stairs tell a very fun story. Those complaining about a shooting game, just put down the blaster and enjoy the set. BTW… it’s the only California ride north of Los Angeles that has a preshow! And prices start at $17.99 for rides, and $12 rerides. The powerup token is a fun $5 upgrade for the competitive type!

Thanks for showing the pre-show! I've been hearing about it being $25 a ride (apparently only at certain times) & after seeing 1 ride-through, I thought it was a rip-off. It's a good ride, but very few dark rides are worth that much. But after seeing this pre-show, it's somewhat more reasonable. Besides the price though, this is an awesome experience.
@treehousekid73 Жыл бұрын
Prices start at $17.99. Rerides start at $12. The total experience with queue line entertainment, backstory video, elevator preshow, ride, and bonus scene at the exit lasts around 20 min depending on how busy it is when you’re there. So this is not “$25 for 4 minutes”
@ArtBellJr Жыл бұрын
I believe the ride is 20$ and there is a 5$ add on for unlimited ammo or something. That’s what I saw on the website. I’m sure they have discounted days there is no way it stays busy and has a continuous line.

@johnchambers8528 Жыл бұрын
Many people say they do not like this ride however I actually think it is better than many dark rides I have been on. The pre show is a little long and as mentioned you either like or dislike the shooting feature. The thing I liked most was unlike most dark rides there was enough light from the screens that you could actually see and enjoy some of the other features. On most dark rides you are in total darkness and only see the scenes presented for a short time. Again you do loose the surprise factor you get on some other true dark rides but I feel with this format you do not miss any of the many features presented during the ride. One last comment, if they are trying to get $25.00 for this ride that is way too much. Most people would not pay that price even for a major thrilling roller coaster. Most likely it would do best at a $5.00 to $10.00 per ride.

The reason why Toy Story Midway Mania is such a good attraction is that it is literally themed as a series of carnival midway games, which involve shooting or catapulting or throwing or spraying or tossing something ot a target. Every other screen-based shooting dark ride fails because the game mechanics don't properly match the theme, and quickly get repetitive.

It looks like a great ride, It seems pretty pricey, and that is usually unwise for most show operators. This ride, otherwise, seems pretty interesting. I liked how the ride had really detailed theming, even on the ride vehicles. And I especially liked how they did not limit the show to the screens, but had really terrific set pieces and anamatronics throughout the show ride. I did not like the "shooting" part of it, and I thought there were too many screens for the sake of shooting. . Not everyone who comes to a park want to play shooting video games. That's for little kids. And the shooting only takes your attention from the show and set pieces. The set pieces and animatronics looked really good, and were very entertaining. I love the pirate, wrecked ship and treasure theme, and they did a good job with the set pieces. I applaud them for making such an elaborate ride, and while there are too many screens, I loved the set pieces and theming. I thought it was just as good as any Disney ride. But if they are actually charging $25 per ride, (is that per group or per person?) that seems foolish. You want a lot of people going on your ride, to bring back others, and to go more than once. The crowd is where the real money is. But at $25 per ride, you are going to put a lot of people off. I realize they need to recoup their outlay for the new ride, but they need to be smart about it and keep the prices under control. At $5 or even $10 you would bring people in, but $25 is just expensive enough to turn people away.

You can tell a lot of money was put into this. It's a big production value, but you have no clear ideas where to be shooting and too many things going on at the same time to be meaningful. The acting is not good and connecting to the characters is near impossible. All I'm saying is you could ride this once, but once is enough. There was a touch of cheesiness that I enjoyed, but I still have no idea what the point really was. Is it a shooter ride, an effects ride? Are you going for the gold or shooting the animatronics, or on screen threats? Thanks for taking the hit for us. Great video
@GTNover Жыл бұрын
Compare this to Disney California Adventure's Webslingers. This pre show is better. This actually has physical sets. The physical set pieces move, and were possibly interactive (I couldn't tell). This has animatronics. Its just a better ride overall, even though the budget was surely a fraction. And yes, Disney's screen quality is probably better, and these animatronics were lacking a bit of movement...but it still beats Disney+Spider-Man...
@LosAngelesGT Жыл бұрын
This ride cost less than 10 million dollars. Since the physical sets are an extension of the screen; nearly all physical set pieces are interactive and award different point values. Also, you'll find more than a dozen high-value targets that are cleverly hidden throughout the ride, holding "bonus treasure".
