A man, a million dollar machine, and 45 yards per pass. Cycle time looks to be less than 4 minutes. 700 yards per hour 5,500 yards per 8 hour shift. One man, one machine. Incredible efficiency.

Do the operators basically judge where they will cut and fill by eye? Or is there a computer program of sorts showing the site plan as work progresses?

Some companies have guys who shoot grade at the hubs , they are called "Grade Hoppers", they tell the operators how much of a cut & or fill to go.

They could have GPS on board to indicate the depth of the cut. But most likely, there is a grade foreman that takes depth shots, that let the operator know that they are getting close to grade! Cut & fill! Big project!👍

Depends on companies equipment! Sometimes they use GPS grade checkers and if dozer or ripper cat has GPS they will rip the ground to let them know where the cut is at! In most cases there is wood out there to let them know how much cut there will be.
