I question this. What shape, and surf shaper was your board. Set me in my place. I'm sure people rode it in the 70s . Why not. Imagine what the point looked like before the breakwater. Just like Dana point or the huge jettie at the end of Avila. Can't imagine how it must of wrapped around that point.

The sandbar they are surfing faces almost due EAST, from a 265-290 degree swell direction. Good luck finding footage of bigger waves breaking on this bar...ever. yes, that is the absolute definition of historic and surfline has written about 69 articles about it

This isn't the peak of the swell but the footage of the night before is the biggest anyone has seen sandspit break. When the surfing veterans in California are reminiscing to 1982 to find a frame of reference, you can call it a historic swell.
