gosh her lyricism is incredible, the way she expresses emotion while simultaneously conveying a narrative is so cool

Calmly plays a very complex accompaniment with difficult singing, world class musicianship while delivering her soul to us! Love Sophie! Will see you in Toronto in September😁

She played one wrong note on a slide during the chorus and did the most perfect job of playing through it. That's the mark of a great performer. I make one mistake in a song and I just stop and look at my feet, thinking of what an asshole I am. - made one mistake in this post. Stared at feet like asshole. Finally edited to add the missing e.

Perfect song. I love every element of this song. Love the breakdown at the end of the studio version...the cacophony of sound is so great.

i dont think mitski is bad but it's funny how that and taylor swift are her biggest influences

what're you guys talking about mitski is one of the best people making music rn, soccer mommy is great but mitski has an amazing amount of depth and subtlety

Anyone else noticed how she pronounces the 'while' in '..for a little while' with an f-sound at the beginning sometimes (like fwhile or vile sounding)? It's only a small detail, but it has a big effect on the sound. Kinda wonder if she does it consciously.

i have always noticed this, i agree though it weirdly sounds right

Total amateur here but.. making an f or v sound increases the pressure in your chest when you're singing. It creates the right body feel for singing correctly and protecting your vocal cords. Maybe those moments could be her finding the proper pressure again when needed. Just a guess

anybody know what tuning this is in? I'm mesmerized, I didn't think it was a single guitar in the studio recording. Definitely want to try and learn this one
