As a channel islander he could play for any of the home nations and oddly he was asked to play for France and turned it down - I remember reading it on the back page of my local paper on my paper round. He was a brilliant player, as a Saints fan it pains me to say it but if he has completed his move to Venables Spurs he would have been a lynch pin of England with Gazza in 96 and then beyond.
