ANYONE who's played with Ledley King has him in there. He really was everything they say he was. Remember when he marked Peak Henry out of the game in Euro 2004. The pros know that Ledley was the don.

One of the best center backs I’ve seen in the premier league, Henry said King was the best defender he ever played against, and I believe it. It’s a real shame that his knees were as bad as they were, even though he played for a rival, I still have a ton of respect for him.

I recall this young lad arriving at LUFC Academy in 1996 and being interviewed by his new coach (Ces Podd ex Bradford City AFC) who asked him if he wanted to play for Leeds United AFC or Middlesbrough FC and he said "I want to play for England" That lad was Jonathan Woodgate aged 16

He's right about Ledley King. One of the biggest waste's in English football. At least Gazza had to the chance to play consistently for a number of years and played in both the word cup and the European championships. King could have been one of England's all time greatest defenders.

+HullMarkCA The funny thing is, so could Woodgate himself. He was an incredible talent who also had a lot of injuries. Real Madrid don't sign you for a laugh, they knew what they were looking at. Sadly it never took off for him and he's had a lot of injuries. Brilliant player at his best though.

Lenny Henry True! I remember him coming through at Leeds and he looked class. Was not surprised when Real snapped him up. It was a real shame that his career was also affected so much through injury.

Nathan Sheppard Ledley and Woodgate would have easily been one of the best English CB pairings of all time if they hadn't had the injury problems. Woodgate was fantastic, definitely good enough for Real. If you've seen him or Ledley play extensively, which Spurs fans have, you'll understand. Unbelievably good both of them, criminally underrated.
