Having a good time with a great casinera, Akiko Meguro, at the Baltimore Cuban Dance Party. Song: "La cuenta y la rueda" by Adalberto Álvarez y su son, from the album "Respeto pa' los mayores."

Mmm ..

skohei2011 I don't dance "Cuban salsa." I dance casino. That's what this dance is called. I don't have names for the moves I do. I simply put together foundational moves likes "Enchufla" and "Vacila" together in creative ways. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for your quick response. I am not knowledgeable about style names of salsa. But, the point is I'm really attracted by how you lead. Most of moves seem to be familiar to me as I learned them in my rueda class. But, you integrate them into your partner dance in very creative and smooth way.I'll try to learn from your videos. Look forward to seeing your new videos. Thank you.

Again, this is not salsa, or any style thereof. This is casino. The dances are very different, on top of the fact that casino was there before there was salsa (casino is from the 50s, salsa is from the 70s); that´s why the video´s title says "Erroneously called Cuban salsa"). The reason the dance looks smooth is because there is constant forward-stepping on the part of the lady (as opposed to the back-stepping of salsa) which facilitates walking around and really making the dance circular and dynamic. I have more videos on my channel which I encourage you to watch. In all of them there is foward-stepping. Thanks again for watching and your comments.

0074357 Thank you very much. Your comment is very enlightening! I overlooked your video title. I especially like your Bailar Casino video. I just shared your video with my dance friends. This is just for reference, how long have you danced casino? You're my role model, but it seems that there is a long way to go.

I've been dancing casino for five years. But it's not the amount of time you spend on it, it's how you spend it. And the only way to get better is to practice as much as you can. Best.

Akiko aquí se ve muy suelta y con mayor movimiento porque cuando baila con yoel no se mueve parece que pusiera barreras gracias a su maestro Marrero

Very smooth, passionate, and elegant! I'have been dancing cuban salsa for two years. But, I'm still not good at leading partner as my class only teaches rueda, not partner salsa. In my location, I don't have any opportunity to learn cuban style partner salsa. Would you share the names of some basic step you showed? I can google them and learn by myself.
