Wow...... I came here to learn basics about social media monitoring in order to be able to potentially lend myself a job in that area..I've been through plenty of videos, but I had to give ✨feedback on this one: Very comperhensive, straight to the point. I admire the way Chia unwrapped all of these concepts with such an ease, boliling informations to their essence, very intuitive/logical/understandable and enjoyable. *also highly likely I would use this platform if it comes to the point that I need to do brand monitoring...heck I even feel like using it out of curiosity and for fun now!

Hello and thank you so much for this masterclass! I have tried to turn it into an assignment for my Media Planning students, but one specific difficulty appeared: they cannot see data for Facebook or Instagram content unless they enter login data for the brands they analyze. Yet, you were saying that we can try and analyze a brand we admire, not necessarily one we manage. Can you tell us if there is something we are missing?

Hi Ioana, thanks so much for the comment! In terms of Facebook and Instagram, unfortunately, they officially updated their API shortly after this class was created. Now, users are required to connect and verify their FB and Insta accounts before they can monitor anything on these platforms. Your students can definitely still monitor mentions for brands they admire on Instagram (they will need to connect their Instagram Creator or Business accounts to the media monitoring app first - but it's easy and free to create one if they need to 😉). For Facebook, the official API update means that only fan page owners and administrators can connect their accounts to these tools for monitoring those pages - as a helpful exercise, maybe your students could benefit from creating a class page on FB to monitor different posts and discussions made there. I'm really sorry about that, but this is what the official API for these platforms allow now... please let me know if you have any other questions and thanks again!!

The idea is great, but - if the brand is strictly oriented in one country, and the results can't be shown in that language, there is somehow no point in using this , am I right? Or am I missing something? :D

Hi Jelena! Thanks for the comment & question :-D I would definitely recommend using a media monitoring tool that offers results in the language you need - for example, Brand24 currently monitors mentions in 93 different languages 😉. Also, the Internet just makes the world feel so much smaller these days (in a good way!) that even if a brand were to be strictly oriented in one country, it wouldn't be unusual for it to have an International user base that speaks various languages and that discusses their experiences with the brand in those languages on the web... but it totally depends on the brand / product / service... hope this helps clear things up a bit! My brand name is very commonly used in a different context in another field entirely, what's the best way to avoid receiving this data when monitoring my brands name? I am confused about the differences of simply excluding keywords and boolean searches?

Hi, does the software show data results from the specific region that the brand is in? If not, can you filter according to region where tweets or mentions are coming from?
