This was my most recent interview with the amazing Treat Williams. Treat passed away Monday, June 12th in a motorcycle accident near his home in VT. I was fortunate to have called him a good friend and miss him dearly.
Treat was an actor, writer and passionate aviator who has appeared on film, stage and television in over 120 credits. He first became well known for his starring role in the 1979 musical film Hair, and later also starred in films including Prince of the City, Once Upon a Time in America, The Late Shift, 127 Hours, 1941, DB Cooper and so many more.
His recent roles include Chesapeake Shores (where he played a pilot), Blue Bloods, We Own This City. And he has just completed filming a new production that will air on the FX Network: Capote’s Women.
He was a pilot for over 50 years, having owned a bunch of different aircraft including a Navajo Chieftain, a T6 Texan and his last (and perhaps ideal) hangar combination of a Piper Cub and Aztec.

I met the man way back in 1975 when I was a Squad Leader in the 1st Ranger Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He was getting ready to make the movie "The Eagle Has Landed" and was to play a Ranger Captain, so he was doing his research to make sure he did a good job at the portrayal. He did it right in the movie, and helped the extras get it right also. As the years went by I saw him in other things, including an infrequent recurring role and in a recent episode of Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck. Each time, I think back on those couple of days so many years ago, and how he worked to "get it right." Sad that such a great guy is now gone.

This one is really painful…obviously I never had the pleasure of meeting Treat but I definitely get the impression here that I would not have been disappointed…regular guy doing a job that he loved (and was simply awesome at) but above all else a firmly committed dad and husband…my heart goes out to his family, may he always be with them 🙏❤️

Agree. I just want to add that you never know when your last day will be, and accepting Jesus Christ as your savior is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Remember once you pass away, you can't accept him after the fact. Hell is not a fictional place....

Treat Williams seemed like a good person. I watched this live, but it only now hits me that the conversion really zeroed in on the Zen of flying: being present up there and not getting mired in your instrument panel. And learning to be present in the moment seems to have defined him.

I read his twitter comments and photos. And i know he loved planes. And I thought always I have hope that he never crashed with his plane. and yesterday i read a text message on german television Treat hat a motorcycle accident. And i am shocked. I didn*t know that Treat was a motorcycle biker. And I know Treat loved to read Don Winslow books. In his twitter tweet was a Broken picture book by Don Winslow. But not this year. It was another year. I m sorry for my bad English! Treat Williams is in my heart. Treat should live 20 more years. But 71 years is a supid year to be in Heaven! Thanks.
