My video with one of the lowest CTRs I have gotten this month has gotten the most views. It annoys the living daylights out of me. Since I use CTR to be able to tell if the video is getting a good number of clicks to impressions and see where I should try to improve my thumbnails/thumbnails. If a thumbnail gets below a 2-5% (in 6hours) I will change the title or thumbnail.

Something else to add, the more a video grows in views, the more impressions. So on Day 2 of a video's release there will be more impressions than Day 1 (hypothetically), the CTR won't stay the same, since there are even more impressions than the previous dates. This in conclusion means that the CTR might go down as a result, but the views will still kick in. For example, say you have 100 impressions, and a 10% click through rate on DAY 1. On DAY 2, the impressions grow to 300 (a 200 IMPRESSION INCREASE). If you still have a 10% click through rate, your video grew by 30 more views. I believe that that is simply near impossible, since the more impressions there are on a video, the less CTR there will be. (Sorry if this was confusing, I have 0 clue how to type this in words)

You have a point, because generally the more impressions a video gets, the wider the audience the more uninterested people are in that audience.

Not sure who "they" is. I wouldn't use keyword tools for keyword scores, because they are pulled out of thin air. Do manual keyword research, because this gives you also the insights on how good thumbnails of the competition are. Tubebuddy is great for keyword suggestions (not scores). But SEO will only get you so far, especially when the seo of the competition is also good. Make viewers watch longer and click more, that's the key to success

That seems heIIa sketchy to me but maybe somehow you could explain it.

you will drive yourself nuts if you try to explain by looking at impressions etc. I've seen so many youtube videos, there seems to be no rhime or reason to the numbers in most cases. Like this video explains, CTR is such a bad metric to look at. Just make good videos with good thumbnails ... the rest will follow eventually
@chiefgangmusic Жыл бұрын
@@socialvideoplaza will it tho…? That’s my question. I made a cpl videos that were doing great but for some reason KZbin decided to stop my impressions. You don’t go from 22,000 impressions to 2,000 in one day naturally. Something had to happen. And now I can’t get a video to do well at all. No matter the thumbnail, title, or whatever else I do it on KZbin. My only guess is that KZbin doesn’t like me bc I don’t promote my channel or content on any social media sites so therefore they don’t want to be my only promoter. I know it’s probably not that but it’s the only thing that I could think of that makes any sense so now I have to create those platforms to see if that’s the case bc just having good thumbnails will not work for me. I really appreciate you taking time to respond and I wish you the best. I’ll let know in a few weeks if that was the case. Blessings.

My "Suggested" CTR is low, something like 1-2% - you can see this clearly in the stats or when you post a video and YT gives you the initial impressions. SInce my nich is DIY, later on the CTR improves to 5-10% with the help of 50% "Search based" types of views. But still, YT doesn't push my videos sky rocket :-)
@socialvideoplaza Жыл бұрын
but diy is not stuff to go viral, it's too niche. It is by definition search based content. nobody is going to watch a diy video when they don't need the info... unless you make general tips videos. Makes sense. Assuming you have a good thumbnail and title. If the algorithm suggest your vid to the 100 people which are the right audience you get a 100% CTR and 100 views. If it suggest your video to 100 people of the wrong audience it gets a 1% CTR and 1 view. If it suggests them to a massive amount of people let's say 10.000 you get a CTR of 5% because 5% of that are the right audience, so you get 500 views. And there's the factor that people only have a limited time to watch video's every day. So from the right audience you compete with other video's that right audience is interested in. So you have to plan the publication of you video in a smart way. Look on which days and times your competition publishes their video's and do it on another moment. BUT, you must do it when your audience is at home and not at work/school.
@socialvideoplaza2 жыл бұрын

A higher CTR doesnt equal more views, often the opposite. (that's what I tried to show with the 300k views video that the CTR drops when it gets more views) But better titles and thumbnails do equal more views.

Interesting video analysis but I feel like you completely made the wrong analysis or wrong correlation. You correlated ctr with views when in reality it would have been more meaningful to look at the number of impressions. Let me explain. Let's say a video gets a million impressions but has a 1% ctr, the video will get 10k views. But let's say another video has 1 thousand impressions with 100% ctr, then it will get at max only 1k views (excluding all the traffic from external sources of course). So the real issue here is how to increase impressions. I believe this is to do with audience retention and ctr but more on audience retention. If a significant amount of your video is being watched this seems to trigger youtuber to show your videos to more people. But if the ctr remains low then this discourages youtube to show your video more. In short your video didn't take into account impressions and video watch time which correlates better with views. CTR and views are too distant from each other to be directly correlated.
