Ambster Damn still wouldn’t have worked. Daphne and Bay would’ve been five. Kids that age aren’t fully aware of what’s happening around them yet so their feelings and opinions aren’t taken into consideration. Parents think for them. And John being possessive and controlling and would’ve gotten both girls. As teenagers though, the girls can think for themselves and they’re wants are taken into consideration. Bay and Daphne brought everyone together.

I do feel like even then, she would have still a risk of losing both of them. From what I rmr, in the beginning of the series, John and Kathryn were pretty judgemental when it came to Regina's parenting skills. Like Daphne riding on a motorcycle with Emmett and assuming Regina did not care. I do rmr John try to get custody with both of them but their lawyer told them that Daphne was almost 18, it wasn't worth going to court

He might be a jerk somewhat and unforgiving but let's be real nothing can justified what she did. She was not right, plain and simple. I don't agree with her on that. Only thing you can do is forgive and move on but was she right? Again the answer is no.

A lot of what Regina did in Switched at Birth is unforgivable (i.e. lying about the switch, stalking Bay for years on end, lying with another lapse of alcoholism, stealing vodka, not finding an alternative for ASL to ease some of Daphne's strain at home, manipulating and cheating her friends while working with Wes, pointing a gun at Daphne, and setting off the fight that ruptured Angelo's aneurism). All through season 3, everyone was saying Daphne was a spoiled brat and the bad guy, but in truth, Daphne's breakdown could be seen from miles away. If you watch closely, you can see Daphne getting pushed closer and closer to the edge every time Regina does something horrible, and the fight cost Daphne what could have been her only signing parent at home. Honestly, I don't get why more people don't recognize that Regina's behavior is incredibly narcissistic.

I definitely see what you're saying...but I'm honestly on both sides of the fence, at least of the time. Can I ask - what episodes in particular were you thinking of when you said every time Regina does something bad, it probes Daphne further- can you give some examples? Please? Then maybe I will understand better. And I honestly didn't know that there was any alternative to ASL. What did you mean by that?

Kathryn is a great and understanding mother, so she would’ve understood Regina and would’ve tried to compromise if Regina had told the truth from the beginning. The problem is John. He’s controlling and is always I repeat ALWAYS doing everything in his power to get what he wants without considering how it might effect others. Constantly treating everyone like they were his possessions. When it comes to those three, we see a mother who is constantly railroaded by her unreasonable husband and another mother who loves her daughter and did everything it took to get her life on track. But the courts, all they see is a rich nuclear family with a stable home and a single mom struggling with bills and alcoholism? How the fuck do you think this would’ve turned out? We all saw the what if episode. Not only were both girls taken from her, but was cut off completely. Can you imagine the pain a mother would feel if she lost not one but TWO of her children??

Karen Filippelli totally agree. Kathryn was the most reasonable one & wanted the best of both girls. John was always railroading her on several topics. In the episode where they show us if Regina did tell the truth.. Kathryn still wanted to teach Daphne ASL & wanted them to have meet Regina at least a few visits. However, John was opposed of everything. Regina is a good mom just makes some bad choices, BUT SHE IS HUMAN. She loves Bay & Daphne so much.

While I can definitely see Regina's point, I still don't agree with her choice, completely. Okay, fine! You didn't want to tell John and Kathryn, right then. In my opinion, that would have been stupid. If John knew, at that point, he would have had his attorney fight for sole custody of both girls and won, most likely. On some level, that's understandable! But, she had 13 and a half years to tell the truth. She could have waited until she was 3 or 4 years sober, secured a place of employment as well as a safe environment for kids, met with an attorney to secure her rights and, then, could have told John and Kathryn about Daphne. Who knows how long she would have kept it a secret had Bay not asked her parents to do a DNA test???

This is a completely valid point. I honestly think Regina was never planning on saying anything; maybe once the girls were 18 so custody would be a moot point. But I don’t think that’s likely because she was always very insecure and territorial about Daphne even outside of custody concerns. Plus then she would have to admit how long she had known the truth. She would have chosen her own comfort over pursuing an actual relationship with Bay. That’s so hurtful.

Honestly, even if Regina did say something after she was 2 to 3 years sober, I do believe the Kennish would have still tried to get custody of both of the girls. Since the beginning of the series, they were pretty judgemental of Regina's parenting styles. Like letting Daphne drive behind a motorcycle without knowing Emmett and just assume Regina didn't care. They were also judgemental of the area they live in and the fact Daphne got deaf due to fever. If Regina did open with the truth after she was sober. They use the fact, Daphne is living in unsafe environment due to the area she is living at, she got deaf due to lack medical attention. They would be able to provide that better life for Daphne. Chance are that Kennish would have probably won due to money. There been cases of Switch at birth, where custody battle have gotten really nasty. It's always situation that they all want to be one big happy family

@@princesskylaboo1414 he didn’t know about the switch.. he just knew that Bay wasn’t his biological daughter after doing a DNA test. He was on the road while Kathryn was at home with the kids. He just figured that she had an affair and never confronted her about it.

Some of you guys don't realize that Regina would've lost Daphne anyways if they found out. Even if she wasn't an alcoholic, a court would've always favored a famous baseball player with a wife over a regular single mother.
