Wow, I am very impressed and inspired by this video, Jerry! I find it very engaging, easy to understand and does a great job of describing the attributes of Sociocracy in just four minutes.

Jerry that was helpful. Your other videos are supportive as well. Our social profit adopted Sociocracy, now three months into it, experiencing ease because everyone's voice is heard and it is pretty relaxing understanding in the aliveness of the circle, it is here we all grow into a 'more peaceful river with strong river banks.' Thanks!

wow this is very similar to decentralized governance in blockchain - the main difference being each participate running a node on the network directly contributes to the growth and development of the blockchain. Cross chain communications have not been created yet to introduce links between other circles, but this socioacracy concept of linking these parts as a whole is very interesting. Consensus is a vital aspect for decentralized governance, and the blockchain is a tool to achieve that in a way that is direct and peer 2 peer.

i like how there are leaders and delegates. The leader is responsible from bringing information from general to department, and the delegate is doing it from department to general, so this means not one individual can handle the transmission of the information.

Sweet! This looks good. This is the first info I've gotten on sociocracy. Will learn more. Thanks for sharing (:

Thanks. The best opportunity for learning sociocracy hands-on is www.sociocracyforall.org/solt. Your account looks like we have very similar interests!
@TooTooDeep8 жыл бұрын
I think we have very similar interests indeed! That's probably why your friend Anne sent me an email link to this channel and your sociocracyforall.org website. Anne gave me your email address so we can communicate via email in the future. However, more importantly, I think I've found a note-worthy content glitch here on your KZbin Channel. I'll email you about what I think it is and instructions that will probably help you fix it. You'll see what I mean once you get my email. I'll check out more of sociocracyforall.org and your channel soon (might take a little while since I've got a lot going on at the moment). Please look for my email (my address starts with "kamikazi" so you'll definitely know it when you see it) in your gmail account so my email doesn't go into your junk folder and you can fix the glitch right away. Best wishes :) Looking forward to communicating further

Problem with any economic is the total focus on self first, no egalitarian system will work unless there is balance between external needs ego societal needs. And the needs of an individual, one will take priority over the other depending on the situation but in sick societies you get incredible inverted priorities that tend toward the self destructive, America and the West and human societies in general.

why do 'some' advocates of sociocracy want to detach themselves from worker-cooperatives, no matter how successful they become within a nation as a showcase of economic institutions that are owned by the workers and controlled by the workers democratically? I've had bad experiences talking with a person who claimed to be an advocate of sociocracy. I would appreciate if you could answer whether this is true or not. And yes, the answer will help me determine whether sociocracy should be rejected or not as a means of transforming the workplace.

We see a big if not even complete overlap in the values of sociocracy and worker-coops. I am sorry to hear you had an experience like that. Would you like to schedule a phone call to talk?

Thank you for answering my question, and I can see that my experiences with that individual were very misleading. I had become a strong advocate of worker-cooperatives and socialism before I came across Sociocracy, so naturally I became curious about Sociocracy as a concept. My experiences with this individual happened a long time ago, but now that I got some more accurate input on the matter, I think I can more fairly re-evaluate sociocracy, and based on what i know about it, I have a very positive opinion. They way i view Sociocracy is as a 'tool' out of many for transforming society away from the capitalist social order, and to build a completely new social order where the people directly control their own workplaces and their own communities democratically. Perhaps what initially detracted me from Sociocracy was that its focus tended to be in terms of small scale organizations, but didn't seem to emphasize itself as a means for transforming the structure of the economics and politics of society itself. perhaps the title of this video indicates otherwise, but still, if we go by the definition of "socialism" as being "worker control of the means of production", then Sociocracy taken to its logical conclusion, would ultimately fit directly under socialism.
@JerryKochGonzalez8 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. The way you frame it is exactly something I say: sociocracy is compatible with capitalism but it ultimately leads to a place where people control their own environment. Therefore, it is something we can do now that leads us to something new (if it goes together with tranformation of ownership, and not just a "cosmetic" governance structure on traditional ownership). Collaborative self-governance needs to be practiced, so the movement is still starting small but can be scaled up using the same principles.

Actually, communism is worker controlled and socialism is state controlled. The USSR had a system of totalitarianism and wasn't communist at all. Co-operatives are a feature of communism, not socialism. In socialism, the state controls the industry, or some of the industries. You need to read your Marx.

This is a great idea! Maybe if we were to better as a collective instead of the looking for number one approach, might have a more saner form of government.

What do you do, if you don't find a solution that everybody can consent to?
@ourmobilehomemakeover662 Жыл бұрын
Everyone asks this question. It’s a legitimate worry, but I’ve honestly never seen it happen. However, in Sociocracy, the rules for testing objections are so fair that it takes a really petty person to continue to object after failing the test. Really, there is almost always a way to make the proposal land within the tolerance of everyone there. You just keep modifying the proposal until the objections are addressed.
