To my perspective, I think that the extension lead into which they are plugging the tester doesn't comply with the British Standard as the distance between the earth pin to the edge of the extension lead means that the tester and/or plug could be put in upside down, opening the shutters and exposing the live conductors. A very common issue, I know.
