Discover the power of the Wolfram engine, a versatile computational library offered by the creators of Mathematica and the Wolfram language. This free resource, available for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS, opens up a world of computational possibilities. To get started, simply create a free account on the Wolfram website to license the software. Delve into the magic with comprehensive guidance from the well-written Wolfram language documentation, covering everything from financial analysis to machine learning.
(btw, Socratica offers a pro course, 'Mathematica Essentials,' providing key concepts for mastering Wolfram products:www.socratica.com/courses/mat...)
Explore the various ways to utilize the Wolfram engine, whether through interactive mode, scripts, or integration with popular programming languages like Python, Java, .NET, C, and C++. Witness its computational prowess through examples in simple calculations, system solving, integrals, and more. Create custom scripts for specialized tasks and see the engine in action. The Wolfram engine truly excels as a computational engine for your projects, with client libraries facilitating seamless interaction programmatically. For new users, ample free resources are available, including a fast introduction for programmers and Stephen Wolfram's 'Elementary Introduction to the Wolfram Language.' While the Wolfram engine is free for personal use and development, its exceptional computation capabilities make it a worthwhile investment for production work, providing unmatched value for your workflow.

About our Instructors:
Michael earned his BS in Math from Caltech, and did his graduate work in Math at UC Berkeley and University of Washington, specializing in Number Theory. A self-taught programmer, Michael taught both Math and Computer Programming at the college level. He applied this knowledge as a financial analyst (quant) and as a programmer at Google.
Kimberly earned her BS in Biology and another BS in English at Caltech. She did her graduate work in Molecular Biology at Princeton, specializing in Immunology and Neurobiology. Kimberly spent 16+ years as a research scientist and a dozen years as a biology and chemistry instructor.
Michael and Kimberly Harrison co-founded Socratica.
Their mission? To create the education of the future.

I used to teach at a high school in the early 90s that had Mathematica on the student lab computers (Next and Mac). It was pretty neat. ALL levels of math and science student were using it. "Intro to math" I remember had an assignment where they had to determine the optimal price to sell hot dogs, given overhead and demand.

I usually don't care about hardware but those NeXT computers were pretty nifty

I need to purchase a hot dog. How much should I set aside to buy one? Hope they're not too pricey? Hopefully this Wolfram will help lower the over all cost of acquisition and passes some but not all costs of good sold into the final asking price. Does this price include condiments like mustard, onions, sour kraft, Chilli and Cole Slaw (yummy 😋). So Will Steve Wolfram help me on this? I need financing IF too expensive. Which I really don't want to do. Last month I financed 2 hamburgers and gotta watch my waist line, and budget.

Sounds fantastic, and I understand I'm probably on the wrong channel, but i have absolutely no idea what this is used for or, could be used for.

I have been using Mathematica for about 12 years. How is the engine different from the old Mathematica that I am familiar with?

This looks amazing but... What is a computation engine does it mean that this could replace NumPy for python users? Instead we would call functions from import from wolframeng? And use it to do computational tasks on our server? Is it faster than compiled C?

Don’t think it would replace numpy, but for symbolic analysis it might outshine sympy depending on your use case.
