Sodom is a German thrash metal band[2] from Gelsenkirchen, formed in 1982.
Along with the bands Kreator and Destruction, Sodom is considered one of the "big three" of Teutonic thrash metal. While the other two bands created a sound that would influence death metal, Sodom's music style would greatly influence many late-1980s and early-1990s black metal bands, among others.

Schlager kann ich nur besoffen ertragen. Und genau da liegt das Problem: da ich selten bis gar nicht trinke, bin ich auch nie besoffen. Also müssen Schlager "metalisiert" werden... und siehe da... meine Gebete wurden erhört. Udo Jürgens war einer von den Guten..... ändert aber nichts an der Tatsache daß ich nun mal schwer verzerrte Gitarren brauche! SO kann ich mir Schlager antun :) Danke Herr Angelripper :)

Ich mag Schlager überhaupt nicht, da es meist "schöne heile Welt"-Gedudel ist. Aber Udo Jürgens war immer die große Ausnahme. Er war in seinen Texten oft kritisch - so ganz untypisch für diese Szene, hat Partei für Außenseiter ergriffen und vielen den Spiegel vorgehalten. Dafür mag ich ihn - und es ist ein Adelsprädikat, wenn von seinen Liedern auch Metal-Versionen gespielt werden. RIP Udo. I don't like "German Schlager" at all, because it's almost a kind of "beautiful, ideal world" gibberish. But Udo Jürgens was always the big exception: He was often critical in his texts - so completely untypical for this scene, took sides for outsiders and held up a mirror to many. That's why I like him - and it's a noble thing when metal or rock versions of his songs are also played. RIP Udo.
