I'm in the same position and agree with every word. Now the trick is to try and pace myself while I'm hoovering up all the albums so I can get to know them right and not spend my money too quick. They're up there with Slayer now, in my estimation, only more consistent and prolific. Fucking monstrous, in the best possible way. Don't know what took me so long, either, but I'm hooked.

Along with Megadeth, SODOM are my favourite Thrash Metal band. Consistently good records for years. I know almost everyone talks about Kreator and don’t get me wrong they are awesome too, but SODOM are in my opinion way more thrashier. I hope I get to see them live one day. Sodom definitely released better material than Kreator in the 90s, Better Off Dead, Tapping the Vein, Til Death do us Unite, Code Red. Only really good album from Kreator in the 90s was Coma of Souls imo

Sodom is the greatest Thrash band. The most consistent, way better than Slayer. Have so many awesome riffs, brutal aggresive and real metal. Angelripper is the best thrash vocalist ever

Sodom started out as black metal and always sounded way more brutal and experimental than slayer. Always a true metal underdog. It has influenced and bridged the black metal and thrash divide. While slayer was basking in the "big four" thrash glory. Dont get me wrong, slayer was influential but a lot of their later material sounded recycled and feeding off the past glory they earned.

Renia Derlik Agree. SODOM is way better, more consistent. Each album is great. I'm big Slayer fan too, they recorded many awesome songs, but SODOM riffs, brutality, melodies, solos, vocal is what I love the most. This band vary and that's terrific while Slayer sounds a bit too boring and too similarly to each others.
