I decided today i was going to sew a drop sheet cover for our extra large, extra wide sectional sofa. Your tutorial helped alot. Im going to try your throw cushion covers to. Thanks for the inspo!

Thank you💕It’s a great way to save a couch or maybe just give it a fresh makeover but for me the best thing about slipcovers is being able to just throw them in the wash to clean them. One thing I may not have mentioned is with any fabric but especially the drop cloth fabric is make sure you pre wash to allow for shrinkage before cutting out. 🌸😊

I was too impatient to wash and dry, I should have but didn't 😂 I love the way it brightens up our space

@@ourhumblehomediy I have an IKEA L shape sofa bed and it’s too expensive to buy covers for it. I’m thinking I’ll do what you did with the drop cloth. How many did you end up using on each couch including the cushions on the back? Also did you bleach the drop cloth and over time is it holding up? Where did you get the material? I’m in Sydney

@@nicolestewart For these I bought the drop cloth sheets from Aldi. For one slipcover including the cushions covers I needed two packets but I only used about one and a half. I would say if you are buying fabric you would need about 10 meters at 140 to 150 cms wide. That’s just this sofa though I couldn’t say how much you’d need although if it’s a two seater it should be around the same😊🌸

@@ourhumblehomediy I’m off to Aldi tomorrow to see if they have them. Mwah 😘

@@nicolestewart the problem with Aldi is they don’t stock the same thing all the time but if you can’t find them there they do sell them at Bunnings. You might just have to double check their sizes😊🌸

Hello from the UK! I'm hoping to do this for our sofas, your video is so great and you did a spectacular job! Would you be able to give some tips/advice on how to measure/draw the pattern pieces? I guess you just measure the different sections and add a seam allowance? I think my sofas are a fairly similar shape, they just have a rolled arm instead of straight 🤔 x
@ourhumblehomediy2 ай бұрын
@@sarahhayward94 Hello😊Yes I used the seams in the couch as a guide and measured from these to get a nice fit. Some people just drape the fabric over and cut but I think that’s a gamble. I’m thinking with a rolled arm just measure the side panels the same. The difference I think will be in the shape of the front arm panel. So instead of being a rectangular strip you’ll have to curve it so when you sew these together it will form the curve and fit nicely. I hope this makes sense😊🌸

Great job! How soft is the drop sheet canvas to snuggle on?
@ourhumblehomediyАй бұрын
@@SehrynBelle Thank you🌸It’s not soft but actually it’s better than the fabric that was on it originally that was so rough. I think the more it’s washed the softer it gets but it really is great value💕

Where did you buy drop cloths for $14? Much dearer in Bunnings. 🇦🇺 Thanks. 😊 Invest in some pinking sheers to save fabrics from fraying. 😊 I also made slipcovers just like you! However, I only got to make the 'pattern' pieces, then moved to where the new fabric wouldn't suit. Burgundy velvet fabric in Hervey Bay would not suit! So, I bought 2 faux leather couches that only lasted 2 years in tropical climate. However, I like to lie on the couch, but too slippe ry

You've done a terrific job!! I bought drop sheets for slipcovers for the cream faux leather couches, but Fantastic Furniture took them back before I had the chance to use the dropsheets to make them. I have a couple of old KS sheets that I intend to use to make slipcovers for the 'replacement' grey velvet couches (cost more $$s though) with rounded arms! 😞 They are now 8yrs old, so they need cleaning, but I thought that as I already have the dropsheets, I might as well make slipcovers for them. Did you wash the dropsheets first, as they tend to shrink. Love the cushion! 😊😮

@@wendyfay16 Thank you! Well...no I didn't wash it but I have since and it did shrink. It actually fits more snug now although it is a little shorter. I definitely recommend washing beforehand and will be doing this before I make my next one😄
