Even Harmony recommends you connect via Bluetooth to Roku, Sheild, and Apple TV. One thing these remotes are missing is a voice button. My kids love searching via voice, and it would be awesome if this remote could do that.

Voice control is becoming essential, I agree.

Aloha. After seeing this video I am wondering is this one of the Vine items you eventually kept and used or did you go back to your Harmony? They have a new model out now and i was wondering how well these remotes hold up (and did the software improve?). Most of the KZbin videos for this seem to be paid ads and yours seemed the most skeptical so your opinion probably would help a lot of people.

Thanks for watching! I went back to the Harmony after a couple of weeks. The interface on the version that I have just isn’t there yet. But the device has potential - a few more updates and some UI tweaks and they might have something good going.

Thanks for your video. Looking for a Logitech Harmony Ultimate replacement, which unfortunately is on its last legs, and thought this would be a good option. The main criteria for a new remote is ease of use. This seems to be missing a basic function for easily changing channels. What are your thoughts? How do you change channels?

I don’t have a cable box, but the remote does have buttons that I’m sure could easily be programmed to do the channel functions of a cable box. The X1 has thousands of accessories available, and I suspect if you have cable from any provider it would have their box. It should be a simple process to program, and I suspect the remote will work just fine for changing channels. Please comment if you have any more questions. Thanks for watching!

@@ProklaimYYC Thanks for your reply. I have been investigating how to input numbers for channel selection. While it can be done, unfortunately, it is a convoluted setup with not ideal functionality. An additional option is to create favorite channels.

Right, because the remote doesn’t have any numbers. I never really noticed that because as I said I don’t have cable. This is another thing that the Harmony did better, it would seem.

@@ProklaimYYC I am looking to replace my dying Harmony, and really don't use numbers much. but I can see if you do enter channel 29, then 41 etc. this would be a hassle.

Interestingly the screen is a color screen, looks like they just have not utilized it. Hoping they do this in an upcoming update, if you plug in the remote you can see the battery icon is green.

I did not realize that. I haven’t had occasion to plug the remote in yet. It’s odd that they wouldn’t use any colour in the interface if there is in fact a colour screen in there 🤷🏻♂️.
