The shopska salad is older than the Greek salad. The greek salad was invented in the 1960s-1970s. The shopska salad was created by the Bulgarian tourist association "Balkantourist" in 1955. It's point is to use the colours of the flag of Bulgaria hence it has white cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes. It's an artificially created salad with the aforementioned design made specifically for foreign tourists. It's very possible that Greeks got the idea from there. Not trying to spread hate but as everybody knows Bulgaria was better economically than Greece back then during the times of the Junta.

Absolutely true. Nothing to add here. Shopska salad was created by Balkantourist. There was a competition for chefs. This is all well-documented. So it is a sort of trademark. Balkantourist had a recipe book which they used in all restaurants all over Bulgaria. Still used today.

sry, but by no means Bulgaria was better economically than Greece during the times of junta( Greece was still richer than Bulgaria even back then) no hate its just the truth, you can look it up your self.
