It's that time of the year when Kenin actually shows up and gives her 100%. This year it seems to be Tokyo. Good for her. This may be a start of something, you never know. I'm not including doubles as I know her pairing along with Mattek-Sands has yielded great results for them throughout the season.

Kenin has a great power game, but she always gives off a vibe like she’s ill at ease with herself, which shows in her interactions with most opponents. If someone as sweet and friendly as Dasha gives you a lukewarm handshake you know you need to work on your social skills.

Kenin has a few good runs here and there and then disappears again for the next months. I think last year in Guadalajara she also had a solid run, and then nothing more. So I'm not sure what has been going on with her the last few years, to me this run doesn't mean anything if she can't have a string of good results as a solid basis. I don't know if she's going to play some of the WTA 125's the next couple of weeks, or leave it at that.

Probably because Sonya doesn't strike me as a terribly sociable person. A couple months ago in one of the vlogs they were in a training room and I'm pretty sure I saw Kenin in the background. She was the only other person in the room. I'm sure lots of people get asked to be on the vlog but they prefer their privacy.

It is crazy how inconsistent the WTA is. One week, Dasha won a title, the next she doesn't even reach semis.

Happy for Sofia win but if she wants to be at the top level, she needs to run for the ball. It’s almost like she just gives up as soon as the ball heads in the opposite direction. Someone like coco would have chased for those balls.

Disappointing from Dasha today. But the reality is if you fail to hold your serve continually throughout you’re not going to win tennis matches. Kenin was solid but not overly impressive but her solidity was enough to give her a deserved win. Any sort of consistency on her service games would have seen Dasha over the line. But good luck to Sofia hope she continues to force her way back to where she needs to be.

thank god , can we please go back to normal. And get kastakina out of well known tournaments. Her tennis , for the time she has been in the WTA tour, lacks deliverance and determinantion in terms of finishing. These days, the main difference between great players and players like Kastakina is the ability to close matches. To not let them get away, knowing how to stay calm and to finish them. Kastakina is still playing this sort of street like game of just playing her odds and getting the ball over the net. Defensive. Lacking in true offence. And unfortunately a great deal of americans are super offensive and seem calm while delivering.

Daria Kasatkina played really poorly today. She didn't seem to be interested in winning this match. She hit so many UEs. Kenin didn't need to do anything. This was Kasatkina's weakest performance of her entire career. Absolutely disappointing performance by Daria Kasatkina. She in Ningbo tournament last week played way better.
