My biggest take-away was the whole dang video. I was struggling with painting clay but you actually showed the techniques so well that I feel a little more confident with using your techniques in my next painting session. Thank yooooooou!

I've never before seen the wash applied _after_ drybrushing. The usual process is a middling dark base coat, a darker wash, and the lighter drybrush. I love the flicking technique. I'm definitely going to have to try that.

I've done drybrushing and washing before, but it's been awhile and I have a new project I want to use it with. Thank you for the quick and straightforward memory refresher (and the one or two details that were new to me)!

Hi Robert :) Glad you found it useful as a little refresher! Such simple technics, but makes such a big difference in tying it all together and making it more realistic.

Hi pretty new to painting and sculpting very good video. How do you determine where the highlights are on the sculpture since it can be facing light from multiple directions depending on its placement do you just choose the high points as higher elevation or the part that are mostly extruded out of the sculpture?

Do you have any tipps on how to make the paint more opaque?🙋♀️ I need 6-8 layers just for the base coat to be covering and I've tried like 3 diff. paint brands🙈 Your work is gorgeous! 🥰
@scheve19942 жыл бұрын
Have you tried a primer that fits your base coat? Colors like yellow seem to stick better with a white primer, for example.
@van_ol10562 жыл бұрын
@@scheve1994 Thank you for the tip! I got one from my local craft store, but it didn't change anything. Maybe I used it wrong bc it got kinda crumbly as well. I'll give it another shot ^^

What kind of paint is it
@SofiaBue2 жыл бұрын
This was done with PEBEO Studio Acrylic paint. However, my new favorites GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylics as they have great pigment and coverage (eg: amzn.to/3APhGoZ)

What about how to prevent the clay from cracking if I want it dry before I paint it?
@SofiaBue3 жыл бұрын
good brands of air dry clay shouldn't crack. small cracks can be fixed by adding a bit of fresh clay and then letting it dry again.

What about back nail varnish on the eyes to bring some life to this masterpiece ?
@SofiaBue2 жыл бұрын
Yes that would have been a nice touch! A gloss varnish is great for eyes our to make other parts of a sculpture look wet. Nail polish is fine for air dry clay, but with polymer clay it can react badly as stay sticky.
