Skärhamn on Tjörn Island, Sweden / The Nordic Watercolour Museum / Walk & Tour July 2020
En knapp timmes bilfärd från Göteborg ligger kustsamhället Skärhamn på Tjörn, omgivet av ett upplevelserikt kulturlandskap. Anländer du istället med båt är kyrkan det första du ser, tronandes över de röda och vita skärgårdsvillorna i hamnområdet. Den väderskyddande gästhamnen har hög servicenivå och promenadslingan utmed de saltstänkta bryggorna och sjöbodarna leder in mot samhället. Spana gärna in den tvåmastade M/S Atene, om hon ligger till kaj.
Skärhamn är kanske mest känt för sina kulturupplevelser. Nordiska Akvarellmuseet är ett nav för internationella samtidskonstnärer som målar med vattenfärgsteknik. Museet är beläget i Skärhamns södra hamn och har sedan invigningen år 2000 haft över två miljoner besök. Salvadore Dali, Lars Lerin, Elsa Beskow och Anders Zorn är några konstnärer vars verk satt museet på konstkartan. Efter en titt på någon av utställningarna kan du själv pröva på akvarellmåleri i den öppna konstverkstan - eller boka en konstnärsledd tredagarskurs.
Nordiska akvarellmuseet är en konsthall i Skärhamn på Tjörn.
Sedan starten år 2000 har museet visat konst av bland andra Salvador Dali, Bill Viola, Louis Bourgeois, Elsa Beskow, Anders Zorn och Lars Lerin. Utöver utställningsverksamhet bedriver Nordiska akvarellmuseet pedagogisk verksamhet och hyr ut gästateljéer på den närbelägna Bockholmen.
Nordiska akvarellmuseet ritades av de danska arkitekterna Niels Bruun och Henrik Corfitsen. En utbyggnad 2012 på ytterligare 400 kvadratmeter har ritats av Anders Tengbom. I museibyggnaden finns, förutom utställningshallar, även bland annat öppna verkstäder, en experimentverkstad för kursverksamhet och en restaurang. På en liten kobbe utanför byggnaden finns skulpturen Projekt Fyren av gröna drickabackar, som gjorts av den tyska konstnärsduon Winter/Hoerbelt.

This is a really beautiful Island. The harbour with the yachts is very beautiful - the boats whether for fishing or pleasure look very picturesque and there are many attractive buildings. The water looks very blue and creates a pleasant atmosphere. Great that there is also a Watercolour Museum there and the opportunity to see exhibitions or attend a concert. Always think the best places have lots of artists doing creative work which as you say makes for cultural opportunities for local people.
