Pro-tip: after flashing, you should press and hold the power button when first connecting the battery. The main light will show a rapid succession of blinks, ending in a bright flash. That preforms a factory reset; clearing out the old and potentially incompatible data still on the MCU from the previous firmware.

You're absolutely correct! I typically reset before updating all my settings, but I'd never thought to just do it when putting things back together right after flashing the firmware... Saves a step.

Why do you flush it

Yeah I feel I'm way in over my head trying to do that like I can barely handle doing my Advanced interface but what is the purpose of the firmware update?

So, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the firmware the light ships with... Everything you'd want works. But as Anduril evolves, there are moderately regular changes to the way the light operates a and every once in a while there are some changes that can impact a wider array of ways the light operates - this is the case with some recent updates that I wanted to ensure I could get onto my Q8+ like the lower moonlight mode and the battery & temp readouts via the button lights rather than the main emitters.... If you're ever interested in giving it a go, there's some equipment you'd need, it's not terribly expensive thankfully, and some more learning to do but there's a very helpful community over on Reddit. It isn't prohibitively difficult, I promise... And it's also pretty hard to screw up a light doing basic firmware updates - even if you mess it up, you can just flash it again to get it back on track.

It adds more functions, maybe even fix problems the light released with
