Hen and hen with chickabou have become my favorites. The cost of game bird skins has gone sky high and hen has much thinner stems and a wider range of sizes and colors.

Excellent information for the soft hackle enthusiast. 👍 It appears one fly in your shop is anxious to share the video with you. 🥴

Great video an explanation of the soft hackles. Interested in all the birds that could be used. I just found your channel and subscribed and enjoy the information and really interested in the soft hackle video that you are going to do on how to use a longer feather on a smaller fly to get the desired and proper length. Will you be posting it when you do the video. I just started to tie a year or so ago and that is one of the issues that I have doing soft hackles. thanks again Dave for your time. I really felt bad for you with that fly bothering you, I wanted to swat it away from you. lol

You mentioned you would show in another video how to compensate for the long hackle, is that video out yet? Thanks for doing these, I have learned a lot.

I just started hunting grouse and woodcock in the Adirondacks, never heard of how one uses grouse tail feathers in fly tying, seems like someone would have some idea for a fly using them...

Excellent video! Thank you! This may be out of your realm of expertise but I would like to know how to prep game bird skins and wings. There are not any useful videos on how to skin and preserve skins/wings. I get a lot of grouse every year and usually just pluck the feathers off and chuck the wings. I didn't know there were so many useful feathers on the wings but how do you preserve them? thanks again!
